Depending on which paper you read (or believe) the EFL are close to announcing that games are to be played behind closed doors this weekend or next because of the coronavirus threat. My thoughts, it's a necessary evil.

No point in playing behind closed doors in my view unless its just 1 or 2 games. Football is meant to be played in front of an audience so if medical advice suggests no spectators i believe they should close the season early and hope to start afresh next season.

My thoughts, it's a necessary evil. When you see a country like China, with an history of hiding things up, close down the country then others really should take heed. There have been some awful wiki leaks videos but they are taken down within minutes. Some awful stuff going on there

My thoughts, it's a necessary evil. The great Bill Shankly is often misquoted as saying football is more important than life or death. He was of course partially joking. However, there are some in our midst who seem to have an arrogant "laissez faire" attitude to this outbreak. There is a very real risk that a significant number of people will die and to cling on to outdated stiff upper lip ideals, is deluded in the least. The personal hygiene of a considerable amount of blokes is questionable. You only need to witness at Rovers, in pubs and elsewhere, the amount who leave the toilets without washing their hands. If the government impose such restrictions as are being mooted, it will on the basis of the advice of their professional medical advisors and you would hope the FA with its £billions, would support clubs in the lower leagues. (Don't hold your breath)

(Don't hold your breath) This. Sure, this. I have heard people saying if this virus was called say Flu, with similar mortality rates, probably the world would go on. Its still unknown so caution is very much needed. I suppose I am more old school and feel that you suspend the games not play without anybody watching. Its either serious enough and not ok for players and officials to mingle. Weird thinking that.

The great Bill Shankly would probably insist that Liverpool play behind closed doors for at least two games

Andy Dunne in the Mirror put it in a nutshell: Sport – and British sport, in particular – is the band on the deck of the , blowing its trumpet while punters scramble for lifeboats.

Premier League and British football set for coronavirus shutdown The Premier League are expected to convene at 10.30am to determine what happens next.
This is an unprecedented time but all 20 clubs will need to come to an unanimous decision for any action to be taken and government officials are also being kept in the loop.
The EFL board are likely to follow action taken by the Premier League, who at 9.30pm on Thursday said all of this weekend’s games would “go ahead as scheduled” before, an hour later, releasing a statement confirming Friday morning’s emergency meeting.
In terms of press conferences, Jürgen Klopp’s has been canned, as has Frank Lampard’s. Steve Bruce and Eddie Howe, however, are scheduled to speak as planned imminently.

The EFL have agreed to suspend all matches until at least 3 April in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.
The board were unanimous in their decision which will see two full rounds of fixtures postponed across the Championship, League One and League Two at the minimum.
The Premier League are expected to make a similar decision imminently.

Blimey, it's true what they say - this virus thing is bad. I'm off to Sainsbury's, I hear they've got some bog rolls in, at last they've found a use for Nick H's contracts.
