I don't think they mention "to avoid disappointment". That would potentially open the floodgates of litigation...

Franco's the Barber on a side street off the Gloucester road, at Christmas places a huge jar next to the mirror with the words 'Tip heavily to avoid disappointment'' , laugh I did, used to get a fair few gas players in to get hair cut also - top man Franco!.

Now the Bill Shankly quote : "If you can't support us when we lose or draw, don't support us when we win" is supposed to be bogus, but when some Liverpool 'fans' walked out early Klopp did say words to the effect that it was down to him and the players to stop fans leaving early, and this is so with BG and the team. It's too simplistic to say you either support the the club or you don't, but, as I've written elsewhere, sport is cyclable and we are going through, to say the least, a rough patch at the moment. The blame I believe rests with BG; I still think there is a good side in the squad we have with the right selection, formation and tactics plus leadership, after all we got to 4th without the added players, but if they are not playing for BG then they are not playing for the club, and me. I'll stick with the team and renew, I just hope it's not going to be like staying with a 2 hour thriller on TV, or the play The Mousetrap, only to be let down at the end. Gasheads are a passionate lot and I have seen the crowd affect things on the pitch, the snake was not the first player to stop and give up. The team needs support, players like JCH thrive on adulation.
(Not being sanctimonious or trying to gain the high moral ground - you pays your money you takes your choice.)

This used to be a pretty uncontroversial point of fandom.
The problem is that clubs used to at least give the illusion of being clubs. Ie. That fans were part of the club to a significant degree and had some influence. Whether this was ever true in English football is extremely debateable but that was the culture clubs at least paid some kind of lip service to. Now clubs across the board have embraced a US style business franchise approach to their relationship with fans so I think this perspective is probably out of date now. If we are treated primarily as consumers then people who make their money out of football can hardly complain that we behave like consumers.
Jerry Seinfeld had a good quote taking the piss out of US sports fans - 'you're just rooting for the laundry'. We're going more and more that way.

So renew now to help cash flow or wait and see what happens? I would be renewing via the instalment plan and would do it in a shot if I could. Hard to justify 30 quid a month though when you don't how your job is going to be affected. I hope their is some sense and flexibility to the current offer
