As swissgas has suggested- he is just picking up a pay cheque until he announces his retirement. Look at him- he doesn’t give a s***. There was so much mockery on the other forum of Higgs and posters giving it the big un that we had been taken over by ‘professional’ Jordanian bankers, well, the worm has turned now hasn’t it? As inept as Higgs was I would much prefer to be being run by someone who actually cares about this club and not the absentee landlord and his chief lackey who is looking for one last pay day. Even Hamer came across like he cared more than these two.I can’t wait for ITB now to try and defend the indefensible. The club is dead. As inept as Higgs was, quite. It was he who lumbered us with the current incumbents. One last parting gift from the previous owner which adds more compelling evidence to why he tops the list of awful owners - relegating us out of the football league should be enough. Sorry, but for my money Higgs still made us an attractive entity because we had stadium plans and a low level of debt. These clowns have pissed away the equity and we don’t even have any hope of new infrastructure any more. It will cost some 17 million for a new party just to buy in to a league one football club never mind finding the money to find a new stadium site that this club desperately needs and then actually build the bloody thing. The club is pretty much dead because of that. We are far beyond saving now, but never mind because Wael is a dyed in the wool gashead who loves the club and who said he would only be here as long as the supporters want him.

If we are not going to build the training ground, I do wonder what Dwane plan to do with the land?, are they planning on selling?, it cannot be used for residential purposes so why hold onto?, investment purposes?. The Training Facility really sums up Dwane Sports for me. Initially a Category 2 opening on July 1st 2019, it was subsequently downgraded, and then moth-balled. It is now an overgrown field near Gaunts Earthcott. The stalling tactic trotted out is that the development of the facility is contingent with the new mythical Stadium. Eh??? We need a permanent, fit for purpose Training Facility NOW (well ideally about 3 years ago, but these things take time you know). The reason it's not been built is because these charlatans HAVE NO MONEY (that they are prepared to spend) and this would have taken investment. To conclude: In the delusional world of Dwane Sports, the only way to deliver the Training Facility would have been to have it tagged on to outside investment - that they hoped to magically conjure up for the "New Stadium". UWE collapsed August 3rd 2017. 3 1/3 YEARS AGO. It's been spinning wheels and BS ever since. I've had enough. Until these clowns leave town, I'm voting with my feet. Along with the 2,000 other Gasheads we've lost since the 2016-17 season.

Along with the 2,000 other Gasheads we've lost since the 2016-17 season. I called it way back when and was deemed a crackpot or a conspiracy theorist by the other forum - they have no money and they never did! The rose tinters were too daft to put 2 + 2 together based on their interest in Gillingham and conclude that it wasn’t the UWE that attracted them, it was the chance to get a club at a knock down price that they could build evolutionarily by selling on young players for a profit. They saw an opportunity to try and speed up that process using the equity in the club via the ground’s land value. They just couldn’t tell us they had no money from the start because fans would have been in uproar at how the stadium would be built. So we got “evolution not revolution”. Now the jig is up and the equity has been maxed out we are seeing them scaling back on all costs: cheap manager, cheap players, cheap business plan. They don’t want to lose money on us and will be looking for the full value of the stadium land in order that they can get away without losing a penny. I can’t say I blame them in some ways although it was their awful mis-management of the budget on trash like Bennett that lead the club to this position where we are totally beyond the means of anyone who would be mad enough to help. DS are, and will for the future remain, the only game in town.

Every club makes bad signings as well as every manager. All clubs have a bennett. The thread which is about the Q and A from starnes has turned into the usual make up a story guesswork about the owners. Any CEO who comes on answering questions during a dreadful run of form is on hiding nothing but i thought starnes did ok in the circumstances.

We brought in 8 players under coughlan and 7 under garner. That is incredible backing by the owners full stop. Why would you commit to that massive financial outlay if you were going to run off and leave the club homeless?

Why would you commit to that massive financial outlay if you were going to run off and leave the club homeless? We know nothing of the signings under Garner other than that none of them had made a senior appearance for their clubs. For all we know they could be on less than £1k a week and/or for the loans the parent club could be paying their wage. So I wouldn’t use 7 signings under Garner as proof that the owners are committing any further funds especially when Nichols (most likely a high earner himself) is no longer at the club and not due to return

Ps no way are barrett, harries and daly earning under £1k a week. Its either a serious financial commitment or a very serious one whatever you think of the owners. No way cheltenham are paying all of nichols salary.

Actually paying a fat lad with a long standing previous history of being fat and little senior pedigree over 1k a week would be classic Rovers so who am I to argue with that? It’s no wonder this club is in the mess it’s in if we are paying kids over 1k a week.

Didn't mention fish market when asked about stadium. That's a new one on me. How are they connected? My understanding is that there were numerous consortium's from across the globe, and further, playing chess like mind games to build us the Colleseum De Rovers.

We have shipped out roughly the same number of players as we have brought in. Martyn Starnes is saying the financial losses are being reduced by lowering the wage bill. So if you lower the wage bill but keep the same number of players it follows that the quality of the players you have must be reduced.

If we are not going to build the training ground, I do wonder what Dwane plan to do with the land?, are they planning on selling?, it cannot be used for residential purposes so why hold onto?, investment purposes?. There is a major housing shortage so why could it not be sold or housing or even a new Corona invention hospital the Chinese built one in six weeks. It's part of South Glos designated "green necklace" separating the motorways from urban sprawl, there've next the no chance of developing that land, hence why the owners who were connected to Churngold sold it, even if they did develop it they'd probably have to pay the previous owners compo. Although if they can't even renew PP for a couple of old barns then how are they going to get PP for a housing estate anyway. You do have to wonder how this mob managed to run a successful bank given the crash they've managed at Rovers. The rumour I've heard is the 4G pitch BG mentioned last week they are using is at the new UWE complex near the M32 so that as to be the favourite for next season, you never know somebody might suggest building a stadium at the UWE might be a good idea as well.

Why would you commit to that massive financial outlay if you were going to run off and leave the club homeless? Do you really see it as a positive the ALQ's don't intend running off? I'm not really sure if I can face spending £400+ on a season ticket for next season plus the £15/20 in fuel for each home game, let alone think about them still being here in the long term! As far as backing until they move on we just won't know if they've back the club with their own money or just sucked all the equity out of the Mem and left us penny less, and potentially homeless, why do you think wage bill is suddenly being cut now the equity has almost gone? If the wage bill is being cut drastically that can only mean a fight against relegation next season, then probably the same again the following season if we go down.

So if the mem is worth nothing now but was worth say £20m when they took over the owners have not lost anything? I believe the idea of appointing garner or a garner type and signing younger players makes more sense for a loss making league 1 club than signing players like bennett, rodman and payne etc. I noticed blackpool have made a very similar appointment to ours and talk of developing young players etc. The big problem is that garners team keep losing of course.

It is possible to recruit well and outshine clubs with bigger budgets. Whats best then? Run up ever greater losses or balance the books regarding recruitment? It is possible that signing young players and developing them could work but it remains to be seen if this works for rovers.

The owners paid £6m(?) for the club not £20m they could still recoup most of that if they sold the Mem plus "interest" is not really debt just clever accounting so it's not clear what the real lost to the ALQ is. Blackpool managed to sell Bola for £750K last summer the clowns running Rovers couldn't even sell the hottest striker in L1! Our biggest problem is that Garner seems totally and utterly out of his depth!!

Yes, it's definitely possible to outshine clubs with bigger budgets and in a nutshell that sums up the fun of following Rovers, if you want a philosophy that is it. But to do so you need leadership which is far more honest, committed, passionate and resourceful than either Martyn Starnes or Wael.

But to do so you need leadership which is far more honest, committed, passionate and resourceful than either Martyn Starnes or Wael. You also need a scouting system that knows what it’s doing and bar one or two decent signings I’m not convinced that Widdrington is consistent enough to produce the results needed for a club to survive primarily on young players. By all accounts Barrett is fat and has been his Coventry days (surprise surprise) Harries isn’t a defender and Abraham isn’t even a footballer. It’s looking like a very poor window which had Widdrington’s influence all over it. If Blackpool are going down the same path it will be interesting to see how they get on because our attempt is perhaps laudable in ideal but in execution like giving a team of monkeys a typewriter and expecting them to produce Shakespeare.

To be fair to widdrington under his watch we recruited hare,jaakola,davies,ogogo,clarke-harris and blackman who have all been consistent performers for rovers. We dont know yet about the 3 permanent or 4 loan signings because we have not seen enough of them.
