I'm not sure that there was a particular crisis when the SS was launched, but what we did have was someone (JM) who offered leadership. Unless some kind of serious pressure can be brought to bear on these owners or somebody with very deep pockets parachutes in from nowhere, I'm sorry to say, my opinion is that this stadium is gone. Bamber, That first paragraph is not true. Thank you for your views.

Jesus, I am so angry reading this thread and the warping of history on the part of at least one "know-all". I have posted extensively on what happened between 2002 and 2006 previously, I know because I lived and breathed it all. I could have written a bloody book about it. The trouble is that one or two people had such a fixated idea of what should have happened that they have never given up wishing to be proved right. For God's sake leave it alone.
FOR THE LAST TIME. The reason that my work with the Supporters Club finished was a direct result of the Boardroom split of 2006. The Share Scheme (SS) was well established by the time I took the SC chair. It collapsed in October 2006 because the then FC chairman realised that he had come close to losing the balance of power in the Boardroom. The rights issue diluted the SS to a point where it was impossible to reach the original objectives, key amongst that was to achieve a blocking vote on the possible sale of the Mem. After the split the Board proposed the rights issue and myself and one other contributor to this thread had discussions with a representative of the Board which was basically a proposal to dilute the SS, knowing that with three equity directors gone they could win the day. There was no way that I was going to front that up and sell that to the membership, that was my breaking point. Had that not happened the changes that were being driven through the SC would have continued.
The proposal for a SC representative on the Board came at least six months before either Premier Blue or the Gas Trust appeared on the scene, it was Phil Draper who proposed it. A little while later Phil and myself had an initial discussion with Geoff Dunford at the Beeches about how it might work with the idea that the appointment would be an Associate Directorship.
I know everything about the debate between Premier Blue and the Gas Trust and again Phil and I were in the thick of it representing the SC to try and broker a deal between the two parties. The Trust were only interested in promoting their model and nothing else would do. They prevailed, so certain were they in the purity of their model we decided as a SC committee to let them get on with it. With the greatest of respect they failed because they simply didn't work hard enough over a sustained period. Some have argued that they were undermined, they weren't they just didn't want to compromise on anything. Had they wanted to work with the SC, they could have done but they didn't because of the sacred model that was some sort of Holy Grail.
When it faltered one of the Board members who later resigned came up with an idea which would involve the SC acquiring shares but involving the fans, the initial proposals whilst great in principal were way out of the pocket of the average supporter. Once again I was involved in those initial discussions to get to a point where we could have a chance of succeeding. It was also apparent at that moment that the SC simply didn't have the capacity or level of expertise to be able to deliver that project and so at that point for the first time ever outsiders were invited to become involved in moving it forward. This met with resistance and bewilderment, but it was that moment that convinced me that the SC needed to change the way it operated. The simple fact was that the then committee didn't really understand what they were signing up to, let alone what the responsibilities might be. Despite the suggestions made elsewhere in this thread I DID understand it and that drove me to produce a paper in consultation with Phil which later led to change within the SC.
All that was undone in 2006 by the boardroom split, nothing more and nothing less. The SC were happy to adapt a "non-political" stance, but eventually it was going to bite back at them and hence the situation they find themselves in now. I saw it coming at the last FC AGM and commented on it.
It seems to me that there are some who want to regard a good leader as someone who just agrees with what they think and then when time passes to meekly agree with their version of events. Once again I say that my involvement in the SC led to a sequence of events that nearly wrecked my marriage. During that whole period I was never paid a bean when I was doing a full time paid job and working the same equivalent time for the SC whilst some sat on the sidelines carped and told me what a s**t job I was doing.
Perhaps the next time anyone wants to comment on these events, please tell us directly what you think instead of indulging in sly digs and sign it with your name.
Regards
John Malyckyj

Bamber, That first paragraph is not true. Thank you for your views. Remember Halifax. But you are right, it's best left alone. I guess the only point of this thread was that Bamber raised some points which were not accurately stated. The only point of rebuttal is in answer, in the main, to Swissgas and others who advocate, to some degree, a repeat. No point in being angry John, its a wasted emotion.

Well, this didn't go so well for you in the end, did it Oldie; Waiting for Shoveler to pop along as well and acknowledge that, apart from giving The Trust far too much credit, I had things just about right.

It was you who dragged me into you being corrected by John. I was done with it. Now that's not worked out you are pretending that it's me antagonising. I give up. I still like you and think you are one of life's good guys and always happy to buy you a pint, but just don't understand why you dragged me in to it again and didn't just sort whatever the dispute is out with Anagram Boy.

Hanif Rahaman asked me to meet you and the other sponsors of Premier Blue at Halifax, that is why I went to that pub.

Waiting for Shoveler to pop along as well and acknowledge that, apart from giving The Trust far too much credit, I had things just about right. Don't hold your breath. Your timeline was disordered, as I corrected you, Les concurred, and John confirmed. The Trust vs the radical wing of the SC I decline to comment on, as I respect both sides more than I understand all the details. You're delusional, Sir.

I think that I had it pretty much spot on. You were wrong and are bitching over semantics. JM was there during the very first discussions that spawned the SS, he was instrumental in formulating it, it was 'his' vision for the SC that implemented it. When he became Chair isn't and wasn't the point. This isn't like you, normally having to explain stuff in this way only happens with Blue Oyster Bloke, Harry and posters of that calibre?

You don't, because I understood what you wrote, and unlike you, I remember it. I didn't say John wasn't involved in the share scheme formation. That was before my time. But the scheme was running and taking a lot of money long before the radicals took over the supporters club. The share scheme was antecedent to the takeover. Go to bed, Bambi.

Oh for goodness sake, this is what you don't seem to be able to get over, I said; OK, John wasn't the Chair at the time, but it was his version of the SC. He was the driving force, the face of the thing. You may be surprised what I remember. I was talking with John today, I had details of conversations and events from 15+ years ago that had slipped his mind, so I'm fairly sure that I know what I wrote 1 or 2 days ago. Over and out.
