Unless I've misunderstood,Bury split into two clubs. There's a supporters phoniex club that have been accepted to play at quite a low level in the pyramid system. Bury FC,the original have been denied access to play next season as their financial position is still somewhere down the Swanny. I assume most if not all Shakers are with the phoniex club?

Bury FC won't even be in the non league scene next season having failed to convince the football authorities they're up to it. A phoniex Fan owned club,AFC Bury have been accepted to a Northern League Division. Divided. Yes. Even though they were expelled from the EFL a year ago exactly the old/currant Bury FC owners and the new people representing AFC Bury have been unable to compromise and create a “new” single Bury club. The old/new Bury FC have been denied entry to the National League structure so nothing is going to happen there unless something gives. The phoenix AFC Bury have a place in the NW Counties League but can’t play at Gigg Lane. I don’t know all the shenanigans that’ve been going on there but both appear to have entrenched positions and I suppose the AFC Bury club will get the support of the Bury fans because they will at least be playing. Either way, very sad. UTG!

Which is kind of 'good', because this backs up the theory that the supporters ARE the Football Club. Good luck to AFC Bury. RIP Bury FC.

Oh I agree epping, very good luck to AFC Bury. The big shame of it all is that Bury FC have Gigg Lane and I can’t imagine Dale, the owner compromising to enable the Phoenix club to have it. With Gigg Lane I would expect AFC Bury to have a great time moving up the leagues back into the EFL. Without Gigg Lane it will be more problematic unless some real compromise occurs. UTG!

Yep - that zombie club is just a desperate attempt of the ex-owner to get some kind of value back. To all real purposes the real club is now AFC Bury. They have a chance to re-set themselves and apparently there is a bit of a buzz about it. Some Bury fans are quite pleased because it's injected some interest from people in the Town when the previous club had been slowly dying for ages. Now there's some purpose and a proper town pride feel about them. If you can build on that momentum then there's the potential to actually build something better than what was there previously. Obviously massively dependent on level of success, whether they can get the ground back etc.

A sad day for football as another club is dissolved, could be any club from probably L1 or L2 next, Macclesfield lasted 146 years.

Sounds as if the owner was blatantly taking the p1ss and the Judge just decided that he's had enough silliness.
Who next?
Southend?
Maybe a Championship team whose backer decides it's no longer worth losing £5~10m a year just so that he can boast at parties that he owns a football club?
