I would like to thank Steve (Irenestoyboy) for speaking with Mr Gorringe on my behalf. A quick email to him and he (Mr G) arranged for Clare McDonagh to donate two tickets of choice in standing areas, or South/South West stands for a game next season. These are on auction until next Friday and I already have a very generous £30 bid. Thank you Steve. Top.man. The least I could do. I wish you the best Grant for your challenge in memory of your dear Mum. If you create a post on gaschat I’ll pin it there too.

I happened to check how the fundraising was going the other day. Amazing! Don't ever think you're not loved, is all I can say. Well done you and all who are supporting you. Fantastic effort all round.

Very kind! I have studiously avoided Gas Chat for many reasons, so may need to think about your kind offer.

Fantastic effort all round. Thank you Anne. People are beyond kind. It's that generosity that keeps me going, especially on the 1.5 mile walk there and back (to the pool) when the wind and rain are coming at me sideways!

A shameless plus for help 2
Urgent Appeal
Looking for help ? On the day of The Dementia UK fund raiser for Stuart Taylor and Lindsay Parsons on Sat 14 March before Ipswich match we need some more gasheads to go around the stadium and sale some raffle tickets. Can you spare 30-45 minutes to do this to helpraise funds for this tremendous charity and to honour former legends Stuart Taylor and Lindsay Parsons ?
You will need to contact Hilary Lewis on the day 1230-145pm in the Rovers Supporters Club bar. Many Thanks
Footnote Former players Tom Stanton, Paul Randall, Graham Day and Russell Osman are attending this event. Come and meet them and donate two wards this wonderful cause.

Another Sunday, another week of training done. Another 17,000 metres this week, topped off with a new fastest time of 1 hour 47 minutes for the 5km today. Somehow 4 minutes faster than before.
More incredibly generous donations this week, many from people I don't even know, which is just amazing. I say it every week: people are fantastic. Thank you!!

Good afternoon all. Next March, I'm doing Swimathon 2020 and will be swimming 5KM to raise money for Marie Curie and Cancer Research UK. I first did this event 25 years ago when I was fit, had black hair and was not quite as old as Methuselah. Now I'm less than fit, have grey hair, am older than the Himalayas and care about too much. Those of you who know me know that in mid September, completely out of the blue, my Mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer and died 12 days later. To say this was a shock would be an understatement. Mum was 79 and was as far as we were concerned, fireproof and indestructible. She went downhill rapidly and has such gentle, caring, kind professional care in her final few days, which was befitting of such a wonderful woman. Mum never complained, being a Glaswegian, she just got on with it. We think she knew she was ill, but didn't want to worry anyone. Please if any of you have any unusual symptoms, get them investigated!! I would like to raise money to help organisations that can aid in the fight against such pernicious diseases and if any of you good people would.like and are able to give anything in support, I would be eternally grateful. Thank you for reading. The link if you want it ,is here: www.justgiving.com/fundraising/grant-buckley1964On 27th - 29th March, over 21,000 swimmers will be heading to over 600 pools across the UK to raise money for our two amazing charity partners. Together we can really make a difference. We invite our swimmers to tell their story to help spread awareness and raise vital funds for these two incredible causes. Hi Grant, Do you think this will now be going ahead after the virus outbreak..?

Hi BT. Still training 5 or 6 days a week, but am waiting for the announcement (probably early next week) that leisure centres will be forced to close.
I will do this however, albeit if it's a few months down the line. The scientists know what's the right course of action and we have to be led by their expertise.

Yes, that's all you can do is keep training and like this football season it may get done later when everything is safer to do so. Health is the most important issue above all, nothing this big has happened since the 1918 'spanish flu epidemic'.

Received an email this afternoon to say the Swimathon organisers have postponed the event until some time in the future. However, as of yet, swimming pools aren't closed. As a result, it's possible to do the distance and submit your time, just not as part of an organised day.
If the pool is still open this Sunday coming, that will be what I'm going to do. I will then do it again when it is rearranged.
Once again, the spectacular generosity of people in donating to these 2 great charities, is an inspiration. You keep me going. This is for Mum and with thanks and love to you all. ❤
