Apparently a celebration of his life ceremony pre Pompey match.....get there a bit earlier than kick off to be sure to catch it.
If we continue our good form, it could be a packed house..

A magnificent servant to the football club. When I started watching Rovers, I always took comfort from his height. He looked like a massive beacon in defence. My favourite part of his game was when Bobby Campbell took over. He would stand on the near post at corners and flick on headers for Randall to finish. It worked countless times. Really sad day and I wonder how many of our current players will watch us after they hang up their boots. A great loss and his appearance record will never be beaten. What more can you say than that to substantiate his contribution? Stuart Taylor was a hero of mine growing up because we all wanted to be Bruce bannister ,Alan warboys or later even paul Randall but knew we never could but Stuart was a man with limited ability compared to his piers but he had an incredible spirt that he would make the most of , in all the time he spent at rovers he never once gave less than 100% a class player who gave his all to rovers another one of my favourite team gone now hope his up in heaven chewing the cud with his mate lyndsey thank you mr Taylor for all the pleasure you gave me growing up a giant of a man in every way UTG

When someone dies I always try to think of happy memories of them and I have loads of happy memories of Stuart Taylor in Rovers games. The back header from the corner has been mentioned and I remember David Williams smashing a goal in from one of Stuarts headers. Stuart scoring in the first derby game that I went to. There is a video on YouTube 'Barry Daines Tottenham Hotspur' its only 20 seconds but you see Daines score an own goal as Stuart is coming towards him which surely distracts Daines the look of joy on Stuarts face as it goes in is good too.
I think that a back 3 of Stuart Taylor,Larry Lloyd and Gary Mabbutt with Alex Munro and Phil Roberts as overlapping fullbacks would be a candidate for a 'Rovers best defence' not many would score against them and Rovers would get plenty of goals from corners.

I think my favourite memory is the last second headed goal against Oxford in around 74-75 which went a long way to keeping us up...I was a nipper in the Tote End and we all went apes**t!

Very sad new's, can see myself on the Tote now, quickly scanning the back page of the programme to see if Stuart, Lindsay & Gordon were playing. I don't get back to the UK much in recent years, but not so many years ago I was happy to have Stuart pointed out to me in a pub in Fishponds, much respect, God Bless.

My favourite memory is when Stuart smashed in (from the edge of the box) the equaliser v Norwich City in the League Cup in 1970/71. Three of our defenders scored that night (all at the Tote End) in a 3-1 win after extra time. Quite possibly the best game I've ever seen. The atmosphere was electric. Stuart also scored the equaliser (with a header) v Aston Villa in the quarter final in the same season. Happy days ! I also remember the last minute goal v Oxford.

Oct 1970 League cup replay good memory Taylor, Don Megson and Phil Roberts all defenders scored. Terrific win against Second Division opponents.

From facebook confirming Stuart's funeral arrangements
With an aching heart, I wanted to update you all on t he details of my husband, (my gentle giant) Stuart Taylor. My husband passed away peacefully in Southmead hospital on Thursday the 10th of October.
Many thanks to all of you for the kind thoughts and messages that were all such a comfort to our family in his final illness.
If you would like to come along to join our family and friends in our celebration of Stuart’s life, his funeral will be held at 2pm on Tuesday 29th of October at Westerleigh crematorium, everyone very welcome. Dress code: smart, shirts and ties, also Bristol Rovers shirts and kits optional.
Afterwards at the Memorial Stadium, Horfield for strictly family, close friends, Bristol Rovers former players and Stu’s fellow masons. - Goodnight my darling, god bless you, you’ll be forever on my mind and always in my heart. From your wife Pam xx

I never met Stuart, but had a little contribution to his career.
In 1960, having a preference forthe company of the girl who is still my wife,l lapsed my training and was grabbed by the RAF for the very last entry for two years National Device. In 62 I was demobbed. Having lost touch with all of my old mates, l started watching the Bristol professional teams. I took up withRon Modules, the Rover's Treasurer and delivered and collected lottery tickets around the local pubs on Friday evenings. My reward was a pair of season tickets for prime position in the North stand. I lived in Oldland and my postman was Vic Lamdon. He was aware of my love of Rover's and we would have the occasional chat. On one occasion he was at Longwell Green and had seen a young player who caught his eye and felt he was good enough to make it I related Vic's comments to Ron and Jan Moules. They showed respect for Vic's views and fed the information back to the appropriate channels at the Club. It wasn't too long before Stuart was wearing the quarters. The rest is history. Thank you Stuart. I enjoyed watching you play in the best teams Rover's produced.

I hope someone can take up the mantle or maybe help/support Jeff so that things can continue.

Loved watching Stuart.I too was in the RAF and joined in 1962.Used to come to Eastville from Hereford on a Sat.Mates would hide my bed and locker in the store room so I wasn't missed on the Sat night orderly corporal 10 pm bed check.Spent the night at home in Totterdown.A right character from that era was Scot,Alex Munro.Full back who was somewhat fiery.
