Highlights were few and far between if we are honest. JCH always a threat wins free kicks and never reacts to fouls on him. Tyler Smith looked lively. Davies, Craig and Kilgour look solid Ogogo worked hard. Little flair and entertainment value to attract lost fans. But unbeaten at home in the league. Harry - do you remember Dodgin saying his team were like a chorus line? Great under lights but not so attractive in daylight. I've been following since 1970 and I've seen some pretty turgid stuff down the years.

Better football than all the L2 seasons prior to relegation from Buckle to Ward.
Think where we were at the start of this decade. If I'd said we would be mid table L1 by the end of the teens would we have taken it? Certainly if I'd said what had gone on in between.
Can never be worse than the Conference season. Or Relegation at the hands of Mansfield. Or Losing 5-2 at home to Crewe with Buckle making 3 subs at HT including the keeper. Or losing 2-1 or 1-0 at home 10 times last season.
Careful what you wish for. We might deserve better but we currently don't have it so I'm happy with what we do have.
Better than Bury, Bolton, Notts Co.
Pompey spent £1m on one player and have won 1 game this season, their fans are going nuts. Failed to beat 9 and 10 men at home.

And in the 70's football was a cheap entertainment with few others compared to today.
Also then we beat teams occasionally from the top division.
Yes a lot of rubbish but who knew what was around the corner, a 7 - 1 home victory maybe.
Now what a victory against a prem U21 team?
A home victory?
Also it used to be Eastville for Entertainment. ....

I think he was trying to make something out of absolutely zero. By the time he came on we were so far back, so deep there was nothing to go on, apart from sweeping diagonal style 'passes' come clearances. Replacing one lively striker chasing shadows with another isn't where we should be looking to criticize. Sitting deep at home? But I was told earlier in the thread that Coughlin wasn’t a defensive manager?! I can absolutely guarantee that wasn't from me......the guy is setting us up so defensively and removing everything that could spark something, aside from striker magic moments, but even GC wouldn't remove the strikers.

His interview yesterday said he prefers to think of it as 3-5-2 which is what it is. An attacking formation which provides defensive cover when the opposition has the ball. 3-3-4 when we have the ball. Are you seriously telling me that Leahy and Hare are set up as defensive? The way they both get forward. We set up from our own goal kicks with the full backs in the opposition half on the wings with chalk on their boots to stretch the opposition. Width creates gaps in the middle. Its an attacking formation.

The way they both get forward. We set up from our own goal kicks with the full backs in the opposition half on the wings with chalk on their boots to stretch the opposition. Width creates gaps in the middle. Its an attacking formation. Traditionally this ought to be the case. We may start off this way, but very quickly revert. If the 'wingbacks' get in position to assist the forward line, then at least 2 of defensive midfielders don't. The number of times one of the 3 centre backs launches the ball up top there doesn't seem to be any cohesion to link play. The 19 for Gills on Sat showed how to make space out wide supporting the front line and midfield. Sure Leahy gets forward and does his best, but Hare wouldn't get forward any more than say Leads did when he layed traditional fullback.
We are defensive and our 3-5-2 needs to have closer links to the strikers in support. Something isn't right, look at the last two home games against very average sides, stuff any stats you can see it with your own eyes.
