...as if all had gone to plan the Mem site would now have a Sainsbury's superstore built on it and we'd be playing football at the UWE. 'If'.

Back to the subject of the thread...
I can only speak of what I know, and that isn't a lot. I don't know Mr Hamer personally, but a good friend of mine (who has no interest in football whatsoever) has got to know him well through meetings and speaking to him on behalf of his company - my understanding is it's been about the installing and upkeep of the telephone network.
He has always been extremely complimentary Mr Hamer, and was very surprised that the Chairman would be handling these matters. This goes back to when we also had a stadium manager.

Er, but we do have a stadium manager, and have had one for a while now.

I'm also reminded of you know the sort of Wimbledon's position of you know the crazy gang of the 80s, and they were you know - they did everything in reverse, didn't they? The ground was appalling; they turn up in an old beaten banger to the away matches, and er, but I think if you've got the spirit, and you've got the unity and the if you like the commitment and the hunger and the camp... to win play football games that's what counts... Hamer?

Can't find any mention of a Stadium Manager on the website (although it probably hasn't been updated for ages!). Can't find any such position in the club directory in the match-day programmes.

Shaun Roberts appointed back in early August. I think announcement and appointment aren't necessarily correlated.

Thanks for that. Not all that long ago though, and a big gap in between from the previous incumbent. And it doesn't affect the point being made - that Rob was surprised to be dealing with the Chairman. And doubly so for me, knowing there was a position occupied specifically for such matters.
