Not sure you use this forum but why haven't you attended the last home matches. To me it's obviously why , it's down to the crap football on offer. A 3-3 draw against a desperate team like Accrington Stanley for example. Surely we are better than that. It's not about the core supporters any more. We are f**ked with 5-6 thousand home crowds. Loyal supporters no longer matter it's not enough.

Don't do Accrington a dis service, they were better than us......that might be why we are 2000 less as you put it.
Thing is, it isn't just Accrington, is it?
If we had beaten Burton, Wycombe and Blackpool, we'd be much higher up....the 2000 floaters like you title about would be there.... but in some ways some folk always moan. Can't get my normal standing space, not enough pasties etc...
We are where we are because we have the team we have, and ultimately our home support reflects this.
If we are missing 2000, can always do what other teams over the river do, give loads away to bolster the attendance....but money's no object to some.

We are where we are because we have the team we have, and ultimately our home support reflects this. Pretty much spot on. Why should people ruin their weekend to watch hoofball and Accy kicking lumps out of us? Our potential support puts us right up there with the likes of Middlesbrough, Southampton, West Ham, Wolves, Blackburn, Derby etc etc. We are where we are because we have never had owners, or a BoD with the vision, skill and contacts to even get close to maximising our potential. Not since Gerry / Geoff and Dennis anyway. But the world of football has changed since then. These owners read a book, but don't have the first clue how to put any of the theory into practice. I thought that Hamer was supposed to be the bloke with all of the experience and contacts in the UK game, yet here we are, 4 years later, around 10 million quid poorer and absolutely no better off than the day Higgs handed the keys over.

Ok Bambi, not fair for you and I to hijack this thread but please stop agreeing with me! Haha! Because then I feel compassionate enough to agree with you....which I pretty much do.... apart from Hamer, which is yesterday's news and has served his purpose (forget the bollocks of experience, he's a has been no one, whom contacts mean something new you put in your eyes to 'eeeeee, everyone will see a much lower profile of him next year). That's just the way I see it. Plus, I see we are better off, especially off the pitch. We are more professionally run and our media department has definitely been upgraded since KB days (and I love him to bits)..

I did not renew, partly because the cost went up, partly because the football was crap and it is not worth the money and the 130 mile round trip and partly because I wanted to spend weekends doing other things. I have four tickets for home matches before Christmas and will be going to Doncaster in October. Not chosn what matches I wish to go to in the New Year. Intend to go to about seven home matches over the season.

It saddens me that we had a fair amount from Kingswood who started going again but most have quickly stopped. It felt great to see the guys who I used to walk to Eastville with but I don’t blame them. We can talk of stadia and facilities forever but it all starts on the pitch. We just haven’t got the people who will invest in building a side that can compete and it’s gutting, given the way we all felt on the day Lee Brown scored that goal. Such a waste of a fantastic feel good factor.

I didn't renew my season ticket because the football was dreadful and negative last season and i could not visualise it getting better. I was in waterfall country in brecon saturday with my 11 and 12 year old grand kids and it was nice not having to get them back home to go off to watch football. Its the first home game i have missed but i already know i will miss plenty more.

It's because of the crap served up last season. Some people obviously didn't renew their season tickets. 5-6 k is what this club attracts when it's going nowhere. The higher gates during Clarke's reign were due to the positive bounce brought on by the new owners and the UWE stadium. You could say we're back to normal until another pie appears in the sky.

It's not just the dire 'Atkinsball' football, it's how UWE ended and the rubbish talked by Wael added to the losses being secured against the stadium, it just feels like a huge car crash waiting to happen. Sat behind that is some rubbish about new owners, I don't doubt that there's talk, but it sounds to me like an old face with champagne tastes but a lemonade budget, yet again. It just grinds you down. This is supposed to be recreation.

Someone passionate about Rovers has just had enough of it. And you aren't the only one.

This is a clear indication of people wondering what the hell the future holds for the club. People tend to want to be involved with a positive environment, this club isn’t anything near being of that nature, in fact failure creates a stench we all recognise from previous episodes over the years. This time it’s worse because we have been conned, we were encouraged to believe that although we wouldn’t see ridiculous amounts of money thrown at the club we would at least have seen stability, that hasn’t been the case, so to see the stagnation and cost cutting yet at the same time wasting money on flotsam and jetsam including CEO’s and others only adds to the perceived returning to free fall. The losses are the result of inept stewardship and frankly I couldn’t give a toss about what amounts to an hour or so’s earned interest on staggering wealth. I think back to a game at home to Bolton when in the early days of the Al-Qadi ownership people were queuing up to shake Wael’s hand, he was wallowing in the adulation, now he hardly dares to show his face, especially after the last episode on the radio. What was bright shiny and attractive has now become a rotting heap, where will it end up??.

To be honest I stopped caring so much, about the same time Darrell Clarke did. The club will tread water, at best, unless we see some drastic changes. I would still go home and away every week if any of my mates could be arsed, but they've all pretty much given up except for the odd home game and I can't blame them to be honest.

Add to all the above, the fact that a large proportion of the Rovers fan base are getting older, wiser and less bothered.
