Bristol rovers were formed in a Stapleton road pub which is closer to the fruit market than the mem. 2,1 miles v 2.6 miles, its not
going from robertson road junction , so using black swan or the pub on the corner i forget the name opposite the monte carlo
I make it 1.8 miles from fruit market to Stapleton rd

for anyone outside of Bristol. beyond the realms of public transport it will be a nightmare, unless there is some sort of P&R made available on match days, and then take into account those registered disabled, car facilities for them?

Now come on mate you should know better than to give facts out on a 'Rovers new stadium' thread. The pub that you're thinking of was the White Swan,a proper sh1tp1t and not what anyone (sane) would regard as a spiritual home,I think that when it shut as a pub it became the Unigate club ? and after that a hostel for homeless people. These threads are pure comedy gold, that belter wale talks out of his blow hole and people on here start looking at Google maps and images, getting information on buses and trains, deciding if the latest site is North of the river, will it hold 20,25,30,000,which pubs to drink in etc etc....ffs in August 2017 he announced to 20man that the Memorial ground was being rebuilt as it was a 'beautiful piece of land' !!!! oh well he got waq shaq erected so that all came true....

Well fingers crossed, believe it when I see it.Could be a few banana skins along the way. Oh dear, it's started so I may as well join in... It's in a plum location so let's hope it's a peach of a stadium and not a lemon with not too many apples and pears for us oldies especially for this Kiwi Fruit cake. As for the naming rights, it has to be the Fruit Bowl. I'll get my coat.

1. Bristol Rovers are an east Bristol club, not a north Bristol club 2. The site is closer to our spiritual home, which is Stapleton road, than our current stadium. 3. Its in a superb location - close to the railway, central and closer to motorway than BCFC and the men 4. It’s in an area of regeneration with the paint works and newly affluent Brislington round the corner 5. The site is compatible in size to our current site and Ashton gate 6. You don’t need independent units to build amenities. The thing about massive stands, is that they’re not build out of solid concrete and you can build quite a lot inside one if you’re clever about it 7. The area is covered with old lumber yards and industrial units which are the cheapest you can possibly buy. It wouldn’t be unthinkable to buy a nearby site to expand parking etc 8. There are no real local residents and those that are very close aren’t tree hugging intellectual eco warriors like on Gloucester Road 9. It’s no more prime real estate than anything else within a radius of Bristol centre 10. It’s a billion times better than UWE. I actually agree with all of that (other than Brislington being 'newly affluent') Still won't happen though. They've had a castle there for years, not newly affluent in my opinion. It's always been regal as f**k.

Fantastic news about the new ground really looking forward to checking out some new ‘watering holes’ in town - Sure to be lots of skirmishes with the South Bristol’s finest! Looking like in with a great chance of Championship football still got our main striker to come back with us still in touch being only 3 points off automatic. Happy Days!

Afternoon D, I am pretty sure I read that the bank of Kuwait are invisible lnvolved along with another Arabic country’s bank, not Jordan. Think I saw it on twitter but can’t be arsed it look. When people say the right side of the river, I have always thought that, once you go over the netham, it’s 82 territory. Would be a swine to get to & Park if coming by car. There are still a fair few active businesses on the road leading up to it. Could it be that this was WAQ’s way of leaving, with his head high or still staying ? Perfect for me mate got a railway station at the bottom of my garden 25 mins to temple meads surely this is in the “dings” a rovers stronghold before the Germans tried to destroy it we will see but boys of our age running out of time now although it would be great seeing all the old tote end boys having a knees up in motion I hear you mate. No train close to me, closest is keynsham. Would be added cost but I honestly do not see this happening at all.

Another reason for pretending the Fruit Market is the potential site... is the potential for lots of fruit based puns. Which distracts punters away from the unfortunate possibility that there may not be any actual plans at all.

Bris Park and Ride would seem like a logical solution if it happens

I'm not in Bristol anymore so I don't always pick up the vibes on this stuff but I'm assuming by the moaning about traffic, location and gentrification etc that everything (plannng, funding, design, non-match day income) has been sorted. I look forward to seeing Rovers in our shiny new stadium for the 2021/22 season......Nothing can go wrong now.
Something, something tortuous pun on Kumquat.

New Cheltenham Rd, Kingswood. Great for buses into town but not much else. I have actually been told to avoid public transport, by my specialist but I can’t live like that. I’d probably ask my friend if I could park on his premises but I don’t know why I’m even saying this as I think it’s nonsense. As always, hope I am proved wrong but, going on past experience and warning others of hubris over UWE, I just think it’s dreamland stuff

I remember how excited I was when I saw my first set of stadium plans for Rovers. I think it was in the 80's when there were artists impressions of a wonderful new stadium at Eastville complete with glass roof. A few years later we were skint and lodging in Bath. After other plans too many to remember and list, we now have another set of plans, although nobody has seen any pretty drawings publicly on this occasion.
Excuse me for not getting at all excited about this announcement as on the face of it, it appears to be the least plausible to date.

As ever with our stadium plans, it won’t be getting permission that’s the problem, it’s getting the money to pay for it. So far that has always proved the insurmountable hurdle. I remember that picture too. I think the ‘Lid Goes on Rovers’ was the Post’s accompanying headline.
