What a master stroke. Four seasons or so and we can open a deposit account.
“Thank you again for all of your support. We are delighted to confirm that following a successful trial last season, we have confirmed a deal to continue with pitchside LED advertising next season. The new system is 40 metres longer, covering the gap in front of the Poplar Insulation East Stand and extending further down each goal line. Exposure on LED is 2.2 times more effective than static perimeter boards and offers your brand full coverage of the 140 metre system. As an 1883 Club Member, we would like to offer you a preferential rate of £2,500 + VAT per minute for all home league matches (discounted from £3,000 + VAT). If you require production on your artwork, there will be a nominal one-off charge of £500 + VAT. Obviously there is no limit on the number of minutes you are able to purchase.”

Hope we don't have that bluddy whippet running around the perimeter of the pitch!

When the LED boards first appeared in the Premier League I found them very distracting. Previously, only the ball and the players moved. Now, most clubs in the top League tiers have this form of advertising. Rovers' pricing has drawn some comment. I thought I would compare with the prices Rovers charge for static boards. Link to Rovers' Advertising page"Perimeter advertising can reach a wide and varied demographic audience with prices able to suit all budgets. Perimeter Boards - Prices range from £1,000 to £3,500 depending on location Elevated Boards - Prices start from £3,000 Prices exclude VAT at the current rate and board production costs"The claim is that "LED advertising is 2.2 times more effective". Probably that's because your attention is drawn to the change in the display, whereas the static boards just blend into the background, and so are easily ignored. Also, your advert is the only one displayed on the LED board at any given time, so making a greater impact. The downside is that you pay per minute for LED advertising. Blink and you miss it!

Has anyone bought something having seen an LED advert at a football match? Fair play to the club though for raising revenue.

It's not always about getting a customer to place an order there and then, often what you are doing is trying to raise the profile of your company. Having said that, I can't name a single company who were on those boards last season. Edit. Got one, Audi advertised on the boards.

We're cheap enough for Rovers-supporting business owners just to be involved with the club from a passionate POV - supporting the club etc. But as Bamber says the other side of the coin is brand awareness. If you or anyone you knew had a need for custom glass in the early 90s we'd all say "You should try Roman Glass".

Don't associate my forum name with that advertising being cheap If it really is that price per-game then it's insane, nobody is going to pay that!

I read it as you pay per minute but they get displayed across all home games. So £2,500+vat = 23 minutes £2,500+vat per minute per game would be ridiculous at our level. EDIT: There's enough minutes per season for £5m worth of revenue.

Birmingham charged £3k a season for a minute a game in 2017/18 and Wigan £2k a seasons for a minute a game that I could find

So when we have 100 perimeter boards, all fully sold and a profit is made, they can actually claim some of that interest.
