I think that was 1974,although there was friendly against Villa in August 75 I think that was a draw. Ok 74-75 season!! I wasn't expecting the spanish inquisition. No one expects the Spanish Inquisition! UTG!

Apologies in advance if I upset anyone, here follows the thread that led to me being banned lat week. The woman's football World Cup has arrived but who cares! Generally speaking a top woman's Premier league side would struggle to beat a means team from the Downs league. I accept the fact some female players are very skilled and the woman's game can only improve in time. What woud make the womans football really watchable, would be to replace those those awful 'butch' football shorts with hockey/tennis skirts. Iam not being sexist (Well a little bit!) I am adamant that nobody would bet against audience figures not to double overnight. There is another thread on Gasworks under the subject title The Woman's Game and here follows some of the responses - 90 minutes of my life i'am not getting back, the standard was atrocious like watching two sides on the Downs - after watching 10 minutes I could not get enthralled so watched Vera on catch up - Conclusion is that the standard of women's football is awful - Football equilient to youth u16's If they played a conference side they would crumble etc etc. Now that the football has started, based the above quotes, it appears to confirm that my observation from my first paragraph was fair. There was also comments made to the effect that womans game will improve over time. Whilst the content of my second paragraph was more of a 'wind up' a lot of comments did confirm the generally poor attendances in woman's football and one quote speaking behalf of four female fans that they had not been converted to the womens game, they remarked it would be more likely to attract men. On the same subject i did a follow up quote stating if female beach volleyball players were to be made to wear boiler suits then nobody would it. At the end of the day i guess iam just an old toteender who hail's from a non pc era, and for the record I hope the England girls win the bloody thing! and do something us men haven't been able to do since 66
*** I can also admit that I've quite enjoyed the football and roll on to tuesdays semifinal when the England Ladies Slam Dunk the USA *** UTG

Well before i got married i was incomplete, after marriage i was completely finished! The trouble is when i went to school we did not have sex education lessons like they do now, so in answer to your question - I think so but only when the lights are out and its on the third thursday of March in a leap year!

Getting back to the original thread which i was 'red carded' for observations made with regards to the Womans World Cup. Firstly, it has taken out about half of the 'dead time' before the next football season starts. In the workplace the general concenus is that its been a hard watch and they have still got someway to go technically before it can be taken seriously. What is not in doubt, in my opinion, is the overall fitness of the female players marched the fitness of the mens game. The last couple of away games that i went to last season, one was Plymouth and i was pleased to see a good percentage of our support was made up of women. Football in the seventies was a 'man thing' which at the time meant terraces, drinking, fighting ...... Football has moved on a lot since then -all seater stadiums ( apart from us! - still waiting on that one! ) divisity of ethnic background ( getting there ) and woman supporters. I admit my views in general are some what dated, but to go to a game where the crowd is made up of white, male over fifties would be grim. UTG
