Still so annoyed at that. I understand Nichols had to come off, but taking Reilly off and leaving Jakubiak upnfront on his own conceeded possesion ,territory and momentum to them.
Most annoyingly, even when trying to see that game out like that, we didnt do anything to disrup the game. So Naive. No ankle taps, no run somone off the ball.

Genuinely one of the worst tactical moves I've ever seen, absolutely woeful. Utterly insane changing the formation with 5 minutes left. Players didn't know who to track and what formation they were playing. The only sub that I could see maybe being worth while was sticking James Clarke on for Lines and getting him to essentially play as a defender in midfield. Utterly insane substitution that cost us.

Yeah we definitely went 4 2 3 1 shortly before end. Is there defence against your aggressive argument? Is 4 2 3 1 technically more solid? Change had to be made because we’d gone leggy? Whatever the formation, if your back four drop deeper and midfield don’t close down the risk rises you will concede. Sure, last desperate long range fluke denied us a win when Posh weren’t really exerting any pressure and it was kick in the tummy, a sick feeling, but our flat and leggy second half performance didn’t deserve to seal the win.

Disagree, they had a pop shot two minutes before the goal. It was clear they were trying to open up gaps for shots from range as they have the players to score them. The change in formation meant the ball kept coming back, we had little up top to keep it, players got in each others way and didn't know who was picking up who. Ward had time and space to line up a shot between the two lines of midfield. Of course it was a great strike but the tactical change was divvy at best.

Its a pity nichols pulled up when the manager wanted to take reilly off as reilly was exhausted and still had to come off. In hindsight perhaps coughlan could have brought payne on so as to leave the formation alone or played sercombe up top and slotted james clarke into the left midfield. But hindsight is a wonderful thing so they say.

I can understand his reasoning though. They'd been knocking on the door for some time. Our full-backs had been positioned so central that Posh always had loads of room down each wing. I thought we'd gone 5 at the back, with the 3 central defenders allowing the full-backs out wider to counter their wingers. We restricted them to long range shooting, and of course one unstoppable worldie from distance was the way they got the equalizer. The problem was our strikers were spent and no one to hold the ball up and relieve the pressure.
