Unless they were planning on putting the new stadium on the colony site... Or maybe the CSSC site? All of AMPG's questions sprang to my mind too.

Following the departure of Darrell Clarke, the Board and the owners are conscious that there has been considerable speculation regarding our future plans for the Club. In order to provide clarity to supporters, the Board and the owners would like to confirm that our aspirations and intentions for a positive future for the Club remain unchanged. Hard work continues behind the scenes. Whilst it is not possible to share all details due to confidentiality arrangements, we wish to put on record our extreme disappointment that another development site that the Club have been pursuing is no longer under consideration. Many months of effort, and not inconsiderable cost, have been put into this possibility of a new stadium and training ground development but we have now been left with no option but to explore and identify alternative solutions. The Board and the owners want the very best for Bristol Rovers FC. Supporters will of course be informed as soon there are important developments to share. In the meantime, we send our very best wishes to you for a happy and peaceful holiday season. ”Yeah I’ve got a girlfriend, she just goes to another school”. [br I think they got wind of the open letter being sent so got in first

I understand that the UWE is not going to go ahead, and I can see that we don't have the money to develop the Memorial Stadium, or that it is not profitable enough. Fair enough. What I don't understand is why the training ground is not feasible. I thought we owned the land, and had planning permission. Surely, all we need is a few pitches and a building to house all the facilities. How is this not feasible? To start with, could we not have a glorified pavilion? This is very strange. Or a couple more tents

Have a look on Google maps. If you combine the CSSC area with just one of the fields from the adjoining Muller Road Recreation Ground, there is ample room to build a 20K stadium. The Mem could then be turned into the training ground. Keep the West Stand, knock down rest, and you have excellent facilities for a pitch that can be used by the Development Squad and Academy teams. The big problem with CSSC Ground is access - just a couple of one way lanes. You'd need to purchase and knock down a few houses.

Do you seriously think the ALQ's are going to, effectively, spend £15m/20m on just a training ground, as that must be what the Mem site is worth as development land? Truth is there's no site within 5 miles of the Mem where you could build a decent stadium and training ground. Apart from the airfield which is probably all spoken for anyway.

Maybe the statement has been made now to explain why (because of the 'considerable cost' of the fabled plan) there will be no money available for new players in January ? The part that I find hardest to believe is that there is some huge piece of land in the Bristol area that no one is speculating about. The next hardest thing is believing that if this piece of land did exist, was available and could get planning for a stadium that the owners could afford to buy it,let alone afford to build a stadium. Anyway what happened to 'plan b' redeveloping the present stadium ? is that now history too? or is the 'waq shaq' the redevelopment? Nail on the head mate treating people with contempt if this fabled place existed something would have got out surveyors / solicitors etc would have been involved can’t keep it all quiet just smoke and mirrors to hide the fact the owners are looking to get out if not they should explain without naming the site why it failed so at least we would know if it was because of cost or logistics or just bulls**t just a vague statement as I could say I’m not buying that mansion because I didn’t win the lottery last night Hamer and the sheik Need to understand we ain’t all so stupid

Perhaps it’s just me, but what actually is unreasonable about this statement? Some people on here and elsewhere really need to get over having such an epic meltdown. Its not what the statement says but what it doesnt say hiding behind confidentiality agreements so as to avoid having to provide any details whatsoever to support the statement.

Its not what the statement says but what it doesnt say hiding behind confidentiality agreements so as to avoid having to provide any details whatsoever to support the statement. Once again I think the owners are relying on the fact that most fans have no experience or knowledge of what a confidentiality / non disclosure agreement is and so will be inclined to take their word at face value. All I can say is that over about forty years in business I have probably only signed about twenty of these agreements which have usually concerned acquisitions and technology. To me it is totally inconceivable that everything relating to Rovers aspiration to achieve a new or redeveloped stadium and/or training ground is covered by confidentiality / non disclosure agreements. We all want to believe our owners are being sincere but experience tells me that in constantly harping back to this old chestnut they are abusing our trust and goodwill.
