What you don't see there is slaphead Lino put his flag up for offside, but what you do see is Danny and other Rovers' defenders stop when he puts his flag up.

Well, the first goal was offside, the linesman flagged for it, following the instruction from the official we stopped, they kicked the ball into the net and the goal was given. That's why these officials are at this level, totally clueless. No point saying that you have to play to the whistle, if you are an attacker and ignore that flag and run through on goal you'll get booked. If the flag goes up that passage of play stops, the linesman makes offside decisions, not the referee. Penalty, at least 4 of their players were well inside of the box when the ball was struck. Not a little bit, at least 5 yards inside of the box. Does the referee actually know what the rule is? Does he care? Yet again we've been robbed by officials. That doesn't excuse the fact that we had 10 players who looked as if they had never played together before. The movement in front of the ball would be embarrassing if we were a team of 12 year olds, we are just so easy to play against. You would only get booked if you ignored the refs whistle,no need to take any notice of the flag unless the ref blows his whistle.

I thought it was an entertaining game but also ultimately very frustrating. I think if rory gaffney was still at the club he would easily be our best striker.

Can’t say anymore about the officials that hasn’t already been said.
DC is right, it’s fine margins every single week. Score the penalty, we see that game out no problem. Zero fortune when you’re down the bottom, their winner was a joke.

You try ignoring the instructions of any of the 3 match officials and see how long it takes you to get booked. No goal, it's not even a discussion.

If a player is through on goal and a linesmen flags without the ref blowing his whistle he will quite rightly go on and shoot for goal. Only if the ref blows his whistle will the flag even matter. Its basic stuff that under-9 teams are taught.

What a fabulous day to watch football.
Over 8000 at the Mem, no rain, a poignant and emotional Remembrance service impeccably observed, and a spectacular sunset projecting every colour under the sun.
I love the Autumn! We play so sh!te, you are better off watching true beauty around you (Westonbirt recently) that isn't on the pitch. Genuinely can't remember when we started a season well and got to Xmas without any problems.
Unfortunately, I'm watching very similar matches atm......alot of huff and puff, sideways back and sideways forward.....sometimes look good, mostly lose possession scrappy play, miss several chances ultimately a half chance we concede.....all tippy tappy, slow, predictable, low tempo, lethargic, no width, no back up or support when we have ball on flanks.....
....and Nichols doesn't score...... again.....yet still gets his game.....
Hey, for all the criticism, I honestly don't think we deserved to lose today. Ok, a dodgy offside.....from where I was, it looked offside all day (?), their second goal was fluke back heeled off our defender and scoop deflected in the net! Wtf!??
Scunthorpe are down in their luck, conceded tons and (fine lines, pardon the pun!) were there for the taking imo.
I really liked their number6..... seemed to have time on the ball, pick his pass quite often simply, and moved into dangerous positions.
Mom.... Sercombe back to his last season threatening form. Brilliant pass and move. Set Nichols free for a 1-2-1, their keeps pulled a worldy save..... always a threat.
JClarke. Brilliant. Kept their number9 quiet all match and quite fitting the army were in because that's what he had good of most the time! McCall was spitting feathers first half as could see what we all did....JC, you defended us brilliantly. So did Craig imo..
So, Ollie Clarke says in interview as top goalscorer he's happy to take responsibility for scoring as much as anyone. (Paraphrasing). I disagree....I think the non scoring threat is the same as every match this season I've seen.
I believe we should pick a front two for the next two months and try to let them bond, gel, form an understanding etc.....I propose Payne/Reilly...... just give it a go, why not?
It appears atm, if our mid doesn't score (can't fault Lines as it really is fine line with a pen miss) then no one does, but for all his hard work, and I acknowledge he had a good game today, Nichols inclusion is actually inhibiting us developing any form of strike partnership because whomever paired with him plays as a lone striker....in essence, Nichols played as a lone striker, no goals and so did Payne.
They don't link up. They don't play close enough together. We don't play to either potential.
Hey, Winter will be here soon. I wonder what delights will be there to view ?
Hopefully, for a change, an on the pitch delight..

Omg, that was just exhilarating if you like that sort of thing. Magical place..
Our move that led to our only goal today kinda got near it.... natural play at its best.

Exactly I've never heard the phrase 'play to the flag' See Leeds v WBA 1971..

That was bloody dire. Not sure how anyone could say it was a good game. Unless something drastic happens soon, we're going back to the joys of the 4th division.

FT: 1-2 Att. 8,003 Frustrating! The away terrace did not have one single fan on it. I took a photo as I have NEVER seen that before. They had their fans in the far left of the south stand, i don’t think it could have been more than a hundred. Terrible support but being beaten by them is more alarming to me. I thought Payne was shocking and was spending way too much time arguing with the ref, when we should have been getting at them. I think that enough time has come to judge Payne and I see a player who just does not come up to muster. I will now say this too, I think DC has to go. As much as I’ve loved the bloke and am eternally grateful for his getting us promoted, I now think he is too easily read and other and more experienced managers will be able to work out what he will do. It wasn’t a bad game but we are sleepwalking into relegation. I was chatting to a family who came to support Scunthorpe and they were expecting to lose and said they think their current team is the worst they have ever known but, once again, we looked very small in comparison to them. I don’t think it’s any coincidence that we don’t do well against the bigger sized players. Postmatch , DC came out with the usual stuff as in dust ourselves down, he could just use the same interview each time we lose. It’s looking very much like the last Trollope season & I think that if we don’t pick up at least 10 points by Jan then I think it could be all over. If we get relegated then I genuinely fear for us being the club we are now & I honestly fear we could see the throes of a dying club. I very much hope we somehow start to at least get our home form back but, today and in the cold light of day, I feel very worried for us

Well to be fair it's a small place and a very long way. They've been comfortably more successful than us over the last 20 years including a couple of stints in the 2nd tier which we could only dream of. In terms of recent status us losing to Scunny is the natural order of things rather than a fluke embarassment. That should be what really concerns us.

I feel we were very unlucky yesterday.
We gave them 3 pts however by not taking our chances. Bennett's left footed shot hitting the bar flattered to deceive as it looked easier to score, rather than it being a good shot.
S**** were there for the taking, they weren't very good and are part of that bottom half of crap in league one that we see every season.
We deserved to win, deserved the penalty, imposed ourself on the game and allowed them hope by not taking chances.
The fans are still behind TN and i think had he scored we would have literally had people on the pitch.
I still think this group of players is good enough. They're starting to play better consistently and needed a bit of luck yesterday.
They conceded 2 soft goals though.
I was disappointed to see 4 at the back at home, though you could argue we didn't have the personnel for 5-3-2.
S**** were laughing back home with 3 pts they didn't deserve.
Lines normally goes the other way.
Composure in the final third is lacking. A great Sercombe goal and their keeper made 7 saves. He was MOTM.
