Well done dc for picking a youthful team for tonight's game. Truth is this game is massive for both the very young players and the slightly more experienced like luke russe and rollin menayese as they are all trying to prove they are worth another contract or even a place in the match day squad. Last season ryan broom had a shocker v west ham u-21 and was seldom seen again in a rovers shirt.

Is the rule of a certain amount of players that started the previous match gone?

Is the rule of a certain amount of players that started the previous match gone? This is from the Trophy Regulations, on the Football League website: 7.3 Each EFL Club shall play its Full Available Strength in and during all Matches. Full Available Strength means the EFL Club must include at least four Qualifying Players in the ten outfield Players named in the starting eleven on the Team Sheet.
7.4 Qualifying Player means any Player who:
7.4.1 had started the immediately preceding First Team Fixture (as defined below);
7.4.2 subsequently starts the immediately following First Team Fixture;
7.4.3 is in the list of ten Players at the Club with the highest number of starting appearances in First Team Fixtures in the same Season;
7.4.4 has made forty or more starting appearances in First Team Fixtures or international equivalents (and not limited to the same Club or Season); or
7.4.5 is on standard loan from a Premier League Club or any EFL Club operating a Category One Academy.
7.5 First Team Fixture means the League Competition, Premier League, EFL Cup or FA Challenge Cup (but shall, in the context of Rules 7.4.3 and 7.4.4 only, also include this Competition).
7.6 Any EFL Club failing to meet the requirement to play Full Available Strength will be required to pay a fine of up to £5,000.Note that the above apply only to us oiks in the Lower Divisions. The so-called "Invited Clubs" have different criteria.

Full Available Strength means EFL clubs must include at least four qualifying players in the ten outfield players named in their starting XI. The four qualifying players must either (a) start the preceding fixture (b) start the fixture immediately after (c) be in the top ten of appearance makers for the club so far that season (d) have made forty or more first team starting appearances in their career to date." (Courtesy of Bradford City via google. I presume they've got it right.) Edit GasMacc beat me to it - and took the trouble to find the real rules

Really don't see the point in ;Jabakuk,Reilly or Payne at our club. They simply never score and need to go. Very poor signings

build-up play tidy, no bite up front. Like the 1st team per KB
solid at the back, decent in the middle, nowt at the front. Parts got 90 mins, THD got a bit. Russe 'a younger version of Sincs'. All per KB

Packing midfield and playing it backwards and sideways kills momentum and gives defences time to organise. By the time our forwards get the ball they're up against a brick wall. Doesn't matter who's up front, they all struggle. The only real chance of scoring is from set pieces.

We lost? Who cares.
Let’s just appreciate the fact there wasn’t a single goal scored away from home, from any team, in any fixture, in our group that consisted of 6 matches.
0-0, 2-0, 2-0, 2-0, 4-0, 2-0
Decent that.

An enjoyable match on a superb playing surface. Four debuts and was impressed with Jones and young Walker. Plus I saw the debut of Holmes-Dennis who appeared to fit in at left back reasonably well. But no threat up front Exeter keeper palmed a shot very late on over the crossbar. Exeter's Jay was fantastic in midfield and Forte was always a threat with his physical presence.
DC has a poor cup record but due to our other wins we may get Pompey away again in next round as we are runners up. Friendly home fans, free programme and wow how much better their stadium now looks it was worth going. Some super vintage images around the concourse and got a contact at St James to discuss our new Rovers History Group as they already have an established group.
