“Ill take the 0.0 as much as a 3.2”
Who said that rubbish? Got to win these home ones against poor opposition. Exciting 3.2 could at least of helped get the confidence back.
The result and display leaves us flat as a pancake. Plymouth couldn’t get out of first gear for an hour, almost like they working on a 3pm start. Suddenly they turned up and became real threat. Throughout our performance was lightweight, unconvincing, lacking cutting-edge. First clean sheet of the season, but mostly down to how much match our opponents slept through. Rather than something to build on this feels like a missed opportunity.
Martins experience guzumping Kelly’s inexperience would be a crime of a dropping on that performance.
442. Payne Reilly orthodox 2, Clarke lines centre, bennet left Mathews right. James Clarke played cb.
Whatever the strengths of that line up might be, rout one isn’t going to get the best out of them. Yet there was a period in the first half where everything was long and ineffective, you could have sat in the middle of the pitch having a picnic and not been disturbed.
Nor can it be called a blood and thunder derby, aside the mentioned red card challenge there was not much obviously bookable.
Flat start to season. Side yet to show us it’s got a cutting edge.
Worrying.

A tremendous clean sheet and two fine goalkeepers kept their respective sides restricted to no goals. Three wins in our last 21 matches When will your mate be back in charge of the programme, any news? On Thursday at 6pm at the Mem the new programme editor is being introduced to all the programme contributors

Signs of improvement today for me and actually thought the ref was good.
Funny how we all see things differently.
Their number 19 was a complete, unadulterated, useless carthorse.

Crosses from both sides were desperate, long ball tactics with the ball not even going to the target man, it was shocking. Then Nichols was allowed on, and it got even worse, I swear he's doing it for a laugh, their player headed the ball, fully 2 seconds after the ball had gone poor old Tom jumped as if the challenge for the header, I've never seen a player do anything quite like it before, it was beyond strange. He looks like a pub player who has won a competition and has been allowed to play with real footballers. If we were winning games it may be funny, but we aren't, he should be nowhere near our football club, complete joke of a player.

If ever a game had 0-0 written all over it... Not this game surely? Both teams have scored in all of Rovers games apart from the Southend game and both sides today have particularly leaky defence. 1-1 or 2-2 but not 0-0.Don’t know why but I fancy our chances today actually. Definitely 0-0

First of all, well done one of our own, Matt Macey!
Done as well as our own keep and made himself noticeably conspicuous....both keeps had good day..
Secondly, James Clarke. What another competent display by what some last season would consider a squad player..
My m o m Ollie Clarke that put in hard working busy display as a skipper..
Ok, we could have easily lost this because momentum turned in Plymouth favour when they brought on Joel Grant and we struggled to contain their pace and movement on the flanks. Danny was rightly subbed for Broadbent, but a little after horse has bolted for my liking..
Great to see Payne flick on and Reilly something near it, actually linked up second half..
But... Crowd quiet. Negativity rife around the place. Folk probably frightened to criticise dc or management team, but there are def murmurs where I am.
It's not a fickle thing, I genuinely think everyone is so willing for it to work....just it appears for the moment, it isn't. It's no reflection on the past, past glories or what anyone has achieved for us, it's just similar mistakes seem to be occurring, reoccurring but worse. We don't have a Bodin or Ellis magic wand anymore..
I'm concerned.
Our play at home is sometimes delightful. But our tempo is far too often lacking. We need faster approach play (maybe prolonging too long pondering on what decision to make near pen area) to pass, and move together as a well-oiled unit.
Also, our goalscoring stat to shots is woeful. Service to front two is poor and end product alot to be desired. That in turn is why crowd is quiet.
Great starting Kelly and Reilly. Two positive impacts that have hit the ground running.
Shame Danny, Upson, Nichols and Lockyer can't step up too..

Keeper good. Ollie mom. Reilly, Matthews and Kelly showed promise.
Back 4 okay, Leads strugle when sub came on.
Lines and Bennett showed moments but need one of them to grab the game.
Payne, did he wear himself out first couple of games?

Thoughts on Ollie Clarke as captain anyone? I can't get to games (obviously!) but by most accounts captaincy may have been more of a burden than a motivation for Tommy Locks. Ollie is a hard tackler and plays in the middle of the park and has been at the club for a long time - which seems to lend itself well to a captain. But, he's seemingly not guaranteed a spot in the side every week unlike Tom.
Interested to know how people who have been to the games assess his efforts as captain?

Thoughts on Ollie Clarke as captain anyone? When he was playing tremendously, a number of us considered him captain material. Then when he started playing atrociously, we thought this not so much. Great to hear he's considered captain material again.

You cant audibly hear him on the pitch. But it’s the same with Lockyear. We havnt a clue about dressing side of it though, unless we listen out for snippets. Overall Clarke is playing okay this season, rather have him in than Upson at the moment. Up thread I talked about Alan Ball playing for Rovers. He was an established England player in 66 how old was he playing for us? But that’s sort of the Clarke position, and Ball was absolutely all over the pitch pulling strings as mentioned right place right time to seal the game. As I typed the first line of this post I remember Balls debut. You could hear him. “Keep it tight lads, keep it tight”

I thought our tempo was was great at the start actually, noticeably a different gear than pilgrims. Lasted about fifteen minutes, at that point I was more than happy with our performance. Nothing came of it, and our display fizzled out. As you pointed out, for the last quarter of match momentum shifted to them, they in higher gear than us. I blame lack of cutting edge for that. If we had capitalised on that start and scored first, we would have been alright for a win I think.

For me, Ollie is back to the form two seasons ago when he won player of the season. Rovers fans love a good terrier, and he was dominant in midfield. Even found space for a long shot (straight at keeper). It can't be that bad if Steve 192 gave him m o m, as before he's been Ollie's critic (as well as advocate). As for captain, I'm not so sure. I guess as a senior pro, longest serving, he always has a chance. Can't see he done alot wrong. It's just me, I would prefer Craig to be given that role..

Payne is quickly becoming a modern day Tarki Micallef, all bluster and never in the game, instead of applauding crosses he should be busting a gut to get on the end of at least one of them. Reilly was just beginning to get the better of his fullback when marksman extraordinaire replaced him. The highlight for me from this dire display was seeing Sinclair running on to the pitch, an honest player not a ''quality''clapped out journeyman.
