Having seen the highights I would say it's little harsh to blame Smith primarily for their goal. He didn't cover himself in glory but I would say it's mainly a centre back cock up really.
But, yay, a win! Also, I love James Clarke's reaction of the classic virgin goalscorer 'wow, I've done a goal - I never do one of those. Fantastic!'

Agree. Think Smith was coming for no particular reason, but one of the centre halves just needed to clear it

Agree. Think Smith was coming for no particular reason, but one of the centre halves just needed to clear it Definitely defensive error and not Smith’s fault, other then he seemed to rush out too quickly and made it easier for their man to go round him to score.

DC 8 Learned from lessons of first two games. Starting Nicholls and Matthews was a good decision. We never score from corners. Now we do. Working on what we struggle with. Which I guess is the up-side of playing with a defence composed of four centre-backs - lots of dead-ball options.

Can't remember the last time JC played in centre and wouldn't be over confident with him there. He's s full back now if not first choice, one of DC's yes men which he needs. Now it's only my opinion, and DC knows best, which is why he is playing him out wide, but I feel Sercs is not so involved in the game there as when he was more central.
PS I thought Ainsworth (who, like Akinfenwa, has his knockers) showed a bit of class by shaking hands with our players right up to the end after they had been over to us.
