All people need to do is chuck snakes etc over the top of gates to people already inside that isn't an offence as far as I'm aware.

Matty Taylor has played in 75 games scoring 9 goals for the 82ers and 1 whole game scoring 0 goals for Oxford since leaving us.
Do our jobs correctly on Saturday and it will nullify any threat from our former 'snake'.

Or, alternatively, we could all concentrate on cheering on our players and helping them to win the game irrespective of who is in the opposition line-up. A crazy idea I know, really way out there but I thought I'd throw it in anyway.

Let's not forget the fact he is still a bcfc player. All these twats saying we shouldn't boo him because of what he did for the gas are taking crap. Imagine the abuse a rovers player playing at trashton on loan for another team would get.

But for me there is far too much energy from some into wanting to give Taylor stick that the actual element of supporting our team seems secondary
I'd prefer to ignore Taylor, respect Junior and support the team on Saturday
I can already see the scenes and the bleating should Taylor score in front of The Thatcher's End

I would absolutely love to be there to give Taylor a massive bake from the terrace. But at the end of the day if you are giving it out then you've got to be prepared to take your medicine if he scores. And whilst I'm pretty confident that I could control myself in that situation I think we all know that there are always some idiots that can't. Hopefully the situation doesn't arise and if it does I hope Taylor doesn't try to provoke it and make it worse. So long as nothing untoward happens it will make for a great atmosphere at the game and this may actually be what we need to kick-start our season.

I really don't care a jot about Taylor. He means nothing. If I saw him walking down the street I'd ignore him. Most others have stronger opinions than me.
What a strange situation to have...
A former player who scored 61 goals for us. The same number as legend Paul Randall. Something like 13th on the list of Rovers all-time goal-scorers. If he'd have stayed until the end of the season he would surely have got into the top 10. Who knows how many he could have gone on to score for us, had he stayed longer. Could have been approaching the top 5 goal-scorers. He could have had legendary status at one club. Posters around the ground like the other former greats. Welcomed back at any time.
… yet he is so widely hated.

I found these couple of paragraphs from the Tranmere programme interesting. All the more poignant today.
The Pirate: You were not at Rovers all that long, but how much fondness do you have for that short but pivotal time of your career?
Barry Hayles: It was massive. As you say, it was pivotal. I enjoyed every minute of being at Rovers. Not just the goals, but the atmosphere, the team spirit. It set me up for where I moved next. When I finished with the golden boot, Bristol City made an offer, and Rovers accepted it. I just couldn't leave Rovers for City. The club told me it was a good deal for them and for me, but I just couldn't do it. I started the season with Rovers, but in November Fulham came in, and it was a bit of a no-brainer then to come back to London.

If he'd stayed we would likely have made the play offs as we were still in with a shout without him at Coventry in the April and that defeat ended our hopes. The fact they then stayed up by 3 pts made it worse.

I was confused for a while there. You’ll be ejected if you watch this on the terraces today . They should welcome the plastic snakes not attempt to ban them. Adds to the atmosphere, makes it a little more interesting and fun than what it would be otherwise which is pretty likely to be a home defeat, sadly

I just think it’s quite some indictment on how this world is now. A bigger gate to show hatred but then, the football hasn’t been much to talk about. As Greavsie used to say, it’s a funny old game.

Well in the end we got what we wanted, 3 points against Oxford and MT and another 3 against Tranmere. It’s funny how a few days in football can change the mood, I suspect a few of the posts written before the Tranmere game wouldn’t be written now. It sounds as if MT was welcomed back to the hospitality with his family. That’s great as far as I’m concerned. I hope the club yesterday was polite and welcoming to his family. It shows the whole club in a good light and shows our appreciation of his time here. In other words perhaps we treated him better on his return than he did in that week in January 2017. Move on, we play Burton and a certain JJOT next week. Sometimes it feels better to rise above all the crap stuff and behave how you know you should and given that we won comfortably in the end and MT went off with an injury makes me believe in karma. UTG!

He left two and a half years ago and there seems to be threads about him on both/either forums every month. The way he acted was frankly thick as mince but I just can't be bothered expelling energy on it. you just have!
