So is it 20% of 3.5 million, as we got an initial 1m? Or do we also have to take out all of the other payments we've received so could earn even less than that and of course all of that is before Rochdale's share.

This should be hung up in the Bristol Rovers changing room next season. Brings a tear to my eye.

Chuffed is not good enough, boy hood fantasies all come true, and what a gentleman to boot. I wish a lot more professional football players had a look at Rickie and thought that is how you do it. He will always be a massive fans hero here and at Southampton.

If its £4.5m, we will net after paying Rochdale £520,000, if its £4m we will get £440,000
We have received £1.25m from Southampton with add ons.

So pleased for Rickie, he's one of the good guys and deserves everything he gets because he's a dedicated, hard-working professional.
He is by far one of the best players I have ever seen in the quarters and I am chuffed to bits that he will be involved at the World Cup and play Champions League football next season.
Good luck and enjoy it, Rickie.

Are we really going to suffer a loss of up to a £1m though, as surely if the likes of JJOT are off the wage bill then the wage bill next season can be cut to reflect our lower income?
it's great news for Lambert who's probably now going to earn as much in a week as he earn't in a year at Rovers

I expect we have lost £500-£750k this year going by past history

Some of that can be written into the value of the UWE but not all. The accounts are completed up until August so I expect there will continue to have been large costs against falling revenue. We will benefit from large wage earners disappearing next season as long as we don't go mad on the new players..... It is indeed great news for Rickie and I wish him well - he thoroughly deserves it.

LOVE YOU AND LEAVE YOU: LAMBERT'S OPEN LETTER TO SAINTS FANS What can I say…?
Southampton has been my life for the past five years, in which we have achieved all of our dreams and more.
First I have to thank Markus Liebherr for saving Southampton then Alan Pardew for bringing me to the club.
Thank you to all the staff involved in making me the player I am today. Without your knowledge and commitment I would not be here right now at a World Cup with England.
Thank you to all the players, past and present, who I have had nothing but good times and success with driven by our club captain, Kelvin Davis. I love every last one of you.
Thank you to the managers I have worked with – Alan, Nigel and Mauricio – and their teams for helping me and Southampton step up and adapt to every challenge that has come our way the past five years.
When I grew up there was only one club I loved. I can honestly say now I have two clubs which will always be in my heart and that is thanks to the Saints fans.
The people who support this club have been nothing short of amazing towards me and, when I look back in years to come, it will be the relationship I had with the fans here which will stand out the most.
Southampton have allowed me to realise a lifelong ambition by joining Liverpool FC and taking my family home. The five-year plan when I arrived was to get this club from League One to the top half of the Premier League. Against all the odds we have achieved that.
Now, under Katharina Liebherr’s leadership, the club has the chance for new plan, a new chapter, and I wish them all the success in the world.
Rickie Lambert
