As I previously mentioned on another thread, I am a member of the BRFC "Retail Panel". The first meeting of the panel is scheduled for August 20th. Before i go to this meeting, i would like to try and gain as much factual information as I can on what is quite an emotional subject. The only way i can really do this is via Polls.
i would feel a lot more comfortable knowing i spoke for the majority of fans, rather than relying on gut feelings, so I'd really appreciate your feedback.
Before we talk more specifically about items of merchandise, i am hoping to gauge the general area most people are unhappy with (if at all).
I think the need for any more specific poll(s) would be dependant on the outcome of this one.
Thanks for your time.

Replacing the camp pirate with one that looks like a real nasty piece of work would be a great improvement.

My own opinion is leave the official crest alone for the purposes of replica kit, but get a 'masculine' pirate design/brand for the leisure wear.

I put my self forward for the panel and was quite disappointed to be turned down, I would have thought as much input as possible would have been acceptable I am female in my sixties and feel this was a factor.

I would have thought that anyone putting themselves forward should have been accepted. It is brilliant that you were prepared to put the time in.

I don't see that you being in your sixties would be a factor, after all the chair of the panel is in his seventies. Do you work in the retail trade by any chance?

Glorybe. Was told (by e-mail)there were too many that applied,so sadly some had to be refused. If it makes you feel any better, both my friend and myself are on the panel,we are both female and both in our 60's.So "golden oldies will be represented! Any ideas, let us have them please.

Got to keep it simple but there have been some great ideas on one of the facebook pages where a guy has done pink/ blue scarfs for ladies / girls. Fridge magnets etc. I would say it is imperative that they find suppliers who will allow the shop to keep a minimal fast flowing stock that can be replenished. For any of you that are on the panel please ask if the club can tie up with toffs and stock some of the retro shirts as not everybody likes buying from the internet. Also think youngsters and parties, pirate plates with a kids pirate and BRFC on them (and maybe a n adult version)also tie up with a bakery to get your own rovers birthday cake (% to rovers). One last thing have a fans area, as in an area where fans can market (at a % to the club) there own BRFC merchandise be that hand made mugs, paintings etc.

From personal experience I think that ''stock availability'' needs to be added to the poll.
Back in 2011 I had orders from a group of overseas Gasheads to the value of over 500.00, on visiting the club shop at the Mem on a visit back to the UK I was only able to spend 111.00 due to out of stock, and this was NOT the end of the season, of the 5 products that I did manage to buy, 2 were found to be defective on opening.

There should be a section on the website for multiple orders that way ensuring occasions like yours are covered.

The club being relegated and this panel coming to the fore can't be just a coincidence?
on a serious note, if someone on the panel could champion casual t-shirts and polo tops with smallish logos on, or even words/symbols on clothes which only subtly insinuates BRFC, so it's not 'in your face'.
Most stuff which is strewn with logos and patterns can sometimes get lumped into the chav category.

I put my self forward for the panel and was quite disappointed to be turned down, I would have thought as much input as possible would have been acceptable I am female in my sixties and feel this was a factor. Like yourself glorybe, I put myself forward in the last close-season for a volunteers position at the club. It was an age before I was asked to attend for an interview, so I assumed in the meantime that my services were not required. When I was contacted again following the interview, only days before the season kicked-off, I was asked to attend for the fitting of my ''uniform.'' But by then I had completely lost interest in the post, primarily because of the lackadaisical approach of the people making the arrangements. And don't even mention the interview . . . a right dog's dinner from start to finish. I would loved to have been a secret shopper, my report would have seriously upset quite a few smug individuals who were hanging about the Mem at the time. I do sometimes wonder if this sort of complacent attitude behind the scenes, contributed to our relegation. Not directly of course, but it appears to me, to be indicative of the smug and complacent attitude from top to bottom in the club.
