I agree Blueiris but I also think that 4 quality signings at this level could ensure we will end up well clear of relegation. I take your point on Managers with contacts. I certainly don't want another McGhee but was making the point that my fear is that due to our facilities, League Position, financial lack of then we may struggle to get these as we do not have a charismatic Manager who generally manage to make signings based on their reputation. I'm sure even DC would agree that 4 new 'quality signings' would diminish the risk of relegation after all he was saying that before the season started. What's you measure of DC's quantity of contacts that can facilitate new players compared to say a John Ward or a Mark McGhee. You don't know and it appears you have an alternative motivation for using a non-fact to create negativity towards the manager. We want to keep a manager who knows everything about his players at mid-point in the season rather than parachute someone in who has no idea, or limited budget to bring in new players. Certain managers build up a rapport with other clubs and I don’t think that DC has been around long enough to have done that, so we rely upon agents until he does get to go to the lunches and meet other managers etc. That is my opinion. I also think SteveK is right in that players wouldn’t come just based upon the fact that DC is the manager, like they would , say a Clough or Ferguson style person

Not sure what some people were expecting at Oldham. DC named a very defensive line up & imo had little choice given our dreadful away record. We have to try and pick up points away from home some how and with our appalling defensive record Darrel has to park the bus away from home for a while, at least until the side gain a bit confidence away from the Mem. Both teams gave the ball away a lot which I think made for quite an entertaining game and it opened up in the final 20 minutes or so. Darrel tried to be positive with his substitutions in bringing on 2 strikers for Partington and Harrison in an attempt to win it. With 2 consecutive draws on the road now I think we have to commend DC on his efforts to improve our away form.

Its noticeable that supporters who regularly go to away matches paint a bleaker picture of the teams performances than people like myself who only go to very few away games. Have to respect the fact that those away fans have copped the worst of this rovers team in recent times.

I think its more about money,in that the manager hasnt got the wage budget he craved going into the season. Theres no doubt that right now the matty taylor transfer money that dc spent on tom nichols looks like a bad mistake. Im not very hopeful about january with regards to "quality players" but we will see soon enough.

Shrewsbury and Northampton had two contrasting results and performances, but what else can you say sometimes?

Just read the report,we obviously were comfortably beaten by oldham and didnt draw 1-1 as reported in the news, i must of read the result wrong. If people on here are so keen on a manager with lots of contacts why not give mark mcghee a call? Manager for 20 years all over the country and could help us sign some gems from scotland with his contacts. It’s only me that has made the comments about contacts and you go from the sublime to the ridiculous. So, do you think that most of the most successful teams only have the manager/coach to fall back on ? Serious question. If you look at the set up in many of the higher up clubs, they have a scouting network ( like we used to) then the manager would go through their reports and decide which players he thinks are worth taking a look at & that is all I am basically suggesting here. I think we cannot carry on and allow DC to do everything. I think that if he had someone close to him, someone he trusted, then the job of getting new players in would be much less stressful for him & I think thenowners would be doing him a favour by getting him some back up. That is just my opinion, I doubt, very much, if DC would want this as he’s on record as saying he’s allowed to get on with it here and so I guess he prefers it his way. You only have to look what happened at our own club, when we let LL go. It was very obvious the PT was a lost soul. I met him once in the Bridgend services and he said he was genuinely shocked when he got the sack here. He looked a lot smaller in real life and up close. Seemed a nice feller to be honest , maybe too nice to be a manager on his own ?

My limited experience of the few away games I have been to, is that the away support is louder and you don’t get the moaners, as we do at the mem. I have had some of the best days out when I have managed to go away. As you rightly say, they have to be commended for their loyalty and great support. If we had half the volume at home games, that our away following gives out then it would be amazing. We have got some real characters who go to every single game. Who knows, I may become one of them if this year goes well.
