Thanks Angas, has anyone access to a link where foreigners can watch it? Can't help with the link. But to summarise, Junior had a stroke while out running two years ago. He couldn't speak for 3 months. He was lucky that he got treatment very quickly and physically now he seems good. Running and going to the gym. His speech is not bad now, though it causes him anxiety that he can't always find the words he wants. His confidence has taken a big knock. Currently living in north London in a tower block with his mum and little dog, Blanket, who was with him when he had the stroke and stayed with him until help arrived.

I liked him and found his enthusiasm and pace interesting to watch. I did feel sorry for him when despite his efforts on the wing and up front he was chastised for not getting back in defence; this was near to the start of when attackers had to get back, often to be a liability, leaving no one up front so the 'clearance' often came back and we sat deeper and deeper - similar to expecting wicket keepers to bat well in cricket.

Yes - I think it's also worth adding that we were bloody terrible during most of his time with us and that we were, basically, Junior Agogo FC for a time. I always thought he was unfairly judged on the basis that he wasn't Stewart/Hayles/Roberts/Ellington etc as we had been spoiled with star strikers. But he was a very good player on his own terms and we'd love to have him playing up front for us in the current team - it would probably make us playoff contenders. I think fans would have a better sense of perspective of what a decent striker is now than we seemed to then.
Horrible to hear all of that - I hope he continues to improve.

Very sad news this. I always like Junior Agogo as a player, and even saw him play for Apollon in Cyprus once (a few years after he left Rovers).

Probably the greatest individual performance I've seen by a player that second half against Yeovil. Incredibly sad story and hopefully we look to get him down the mem soon. Always suffers due to comparisons with player that went before him.

my memory tells me that he was Junior A-no-goals for what seemed like a long time. But he came good, and was the best striker we had in his era
Snakey was the same, although he was a better allround player than Junior before he discovered how to score
hopefully Tom Nicholls will follow the same path

just got this from Wiki....
In the summer of 2003, Agogo joined Third Division side Bristol Rovers. He played the first thirteen games of the 2003–04 season before having to have an operation which kept him out for the next nine games. He finished the campaign with 22 goals in all competitions. In the 2004–05 season, Agogo scored 20 goals in 51 appearances; the following season he scored 18 goals from 44 appearances.

I still have a framed photo of Junior with my son (mascot on his 10th birthday). He had quite a bit of time for an enthusiastic 10 year old Gashead living in Essex. Top bloke. Hope he's reading this thread and wish him all the best. As AMPG says - that is a bloody good strike rate in a pretty dire side.

Terribly sad to see Junior like this. Idolised him as a lad, I was mascot at the Mem on my 10th birthday (I believe we beat Carlisle 1-0 thanks to a Wayne Carlisle penalty). He was very welcoming and made the day special taking me round the dressing room with a BRFC signature book and having a kickabout with me and another mascot before the game. One of my favourite childhood memories, there's a great framed picture of me and Junior from that day somewhere back at home.

He lost all ability to speak but everything else was fine. Sadly, he never recovered from losing the ability to talk and went rapidly downhill & passed 3 years later. Many of us take so much for granted. I used to try & visit as much as I could but I had dad with colorectal cancer and mum with Alzheimer’s and so found myself conflicted in how I spread my time. Good luck and god speed Junior, it’s an awful thing to go through

It was more like six. I wish Junior all the best on his road to recovery and I hope he's over the worst of it. I haven't watched the documentary yet but I will soon.

Sad to say Russell Osman went down in my estimation with his studio comments as well - Williams' elbow on Savage is clear for all to see on the replay (3:10 on the video).

Watched it tonight, a really hard watch but incredibly interesting. Both Junior and Barry’s fights are inspiring if heartbreaking. I do hope we get Junior to The Mem soon if he feels up to it.
