Guy I stand with said what I've thought for some weeks - we try to walk the ball into the net,we overelaborate & the chance is gone. Snap-shots on sight would bring greater reward. We scored six last week.

Oxford United were far better their number 10 Payne was literally a pain throughout. Amazed he was subbed. They had players comfortable on the ball. A tad after the Lord Mayors Show without the bunting. Warm day and I felt Sercombe,Bola Broadbent, Lines and Nichols looked good. Gaffers worked hard in good areas but Ellis still frustrates me with no end product. Telford looked lively. Regretfully Moore weaken the side Oxford for me will challenge for a play off place ..not convinced we will. What about the end product of anyone else, not just Ellis. For me Ellis has been great for weeks. Looks strong, not trying to buy free kicks and looks to link with the team, not to forget all the hard work and his defensive attributes

If anything he was the weak link. Would have replaced him with Dom much earlier.

Hey I thought an entertaining match, at times end to end.
We gave it a go first half, but in truth the best individual chances didn't fall to us. I thought a draw would be fair result, but fair play to Oxford, they took advantage of our mistake at the back.....and never looked back.
One goal was always going to win it, they scored it (due to individual error again?!) we didn't, and we move on. In other games v Oxford it's gone differently. Today I thought we were evenly matched and ox were worthy of their win which in other serconbestances, we would have got something out of..
Positives.. Bola. Absolute class. Couple of slips but otherwise great home performance in defence and offence.
Lines. What's this tackling lark? Many times he's found another feather to his twilight bow! Great surge forward threatening to inspire an attack of note. My m o m.
Gas crowd. Ok quiet at times, but no pyrotechnics, crowd surges or steward enquiries (that I could see!)....will the puppet chairman be happy? Only if no strings attached.
Ellis. Not so brilliant today, just brill. Worked hard, often manhandled, temperament spot on and balanced. His movements set up chances and he defended with resolution.
Negatives.. DC for subbing Moore.....why? Still don't understand if he is a footballer or imitating one?
Is Lee Nichols the new lj? Threaded a few lovely balls through today (so did lj, btw) and got put clean through but put it wide on first touch for a smothering keeper save. I like his footballing brain and approach, but a goal scorer he is not........yet.
And so we move on to the easiest task. Shrews away. No one in right mind would expect us to win there, which gives us advantage.
Maybe play 4-4-2 as an old fashioned one up them? Bit of surprise? Probably not.....we'll see.....as ever, in dc we trust, but today I think he messed his substitutions up.
I would start dom telf up front with Ellis. Pace and power. Hope for better performance than reciprocating fixture last season..

Pussied out of the challenge, lose the ball, they score. Sadly, I guess, no regrets. 😡 Correction: that was Bola. Byron Moore was on the other side of the pitch at the time. Oh I take it back. I was watching on a fuzzy low res iPad stream, without my glasses on 😂 Although I'm still sure it was Moore.

I've never claimed to be in my right mind, but the day we go away to Shrewsbury Town not expecting to win is surely the day we pack it in?

Fantastic game of football. A draw (remember them?) would have been fair.
Their number 10 was their Billy. Oxford were better than any team I've seen at home this season.

I too was glad to see No 10, Payne, to go off and I thought too what a mistake, then on came the eventual goal scorer.

Bola was given a pass by Broadbent, maybe a bit weakly, but he was unaware of an Oxford guy coming in who stole it. www.skysports.com/football/bristol-r-vs-oxford-utd/report/375315

Moore gave it away on the other side just outside their box.

Oh dear!
A female football fan is believed to have punched a police horse following Bristol Rovers’ 1-0 defeat to Oxford United at The Memorial Stadium in Sky Bet League One on Saturday afternoon according to The Bristol Post.
The Pirates were defeated after conceding the match’s only goal late on when former Leeds United youngster Alex Mowatt struck for the visitors.
Reports have emerged that after the match, a brawl between both sets of supporters took place outside The Wellington Pub on Gloucester Road. The incident is said to have involved around 50 people with one woman thought to have thrown a punch at a police horse before trying to pull the mounted police officer to the ground.
The brawl is believed to have been dealt with quickly by police however an investigation into the incident is now expected to take place.
The woman who attacked the police horse is not believed to have been arrested and it has not been confirmed whether she was a home of visiting supporter.

I am no fan of horses. But can football supporters just stop punching them? I cannot believe that I really have to ask this.

Why hit a horse? Come to that, why hit any animal or person? Just don't understand the mentality of some people.

Having watched the highlights I stand by my original comments. The challenge I was referring to was in their half outside their box, where Moore was his usual lightweight self bottled it and lost possession, allowing oxford to mount their attack. Not the challenge in our half on Bola. Even with my rubbish view, I'm pretty sure I can tell the difference between Bola and Moore. There's a pretty significant one on many levels.

I rescind my patronising correction and apologise. However I'd argue that while Moore lost possession we had ample opportunity to win it back and in fact had done, and the blame for the goal lies with the defence, who were collectively all at sea. Bola most so, on that occasion.
