Going to be a long hard season if Harrison continues to be on the pitch, plus a lack of signing a top quality striker and a quality wide player will mean more crazy team selections like Stuart Sinclair playing as wide forward in a front 3, and more weak attacking performances that lack any cutting edge.

Well on the positive side I thought Broadbent did well and I really like Smith's 'attitude'.

Dunno why I bother with this ground. DC roundly f*cked me up the @rse with his team selection this time, tried his best to do it again this time! Ref overshadowed him am afraid. Some woeful decisions, but take nothing away from our attack. We were poor in last third and rarely troubled their keeps for a team that had a man advantage for most of match.

Positives..
Great Gas turnout.
Sercombe.
Broadbent.
Defence shape and structure when not in possession.


Negatives..
Can't defend set pieces.
Ellis up front alone.
Beard at right back.
No idea going forward, no decent cross and no one on end of it.

Another gas let down day..

I did mention my surprise at the beard being played in that position. What I also don't get is leaving Nichols on the bench. 
I think I could live 10 lifetimes and never know what DC has in mind. I sometimes wonder if he does it just to get a rise but surely no pro manager would do this, right ? 
84 minuyes abainst 10 men and we play with a lone forward. Seems Gaffney had a good preseason yet he gets stuck on the timber too. 
I know it's only the first game but it certainly looks like more of the same tactics, at least when away from home 
Ellis plays much better in a pair and I feel it won't be long before the knives are drawn, if he continues to play him alone

Just back and read the thread. I was sat right at the front behind the goal, about 3 metres away and the ball was saved on to the post and Smith who was on the ground after the great save just caught it. I wasn't level but the whole ball was never over the line. It was shown on the big TV at HT and it showed, to me, that the ball was not over the line. Thought Smith and Sercombe played very well although Smith didn't have that much to do. DC got a big decision this week over Broadbent and Sweeney. I thought Broadbent was almost MOM for us. A very good debut, seemed comfortable on the ball and wasn't beaten in the air much. He made a small mistake in the first half when he tried to pass and play the ball out instead of launching it onto row z and was caught out of position when they got possession and attacked. Fortunately it came to nothing. Well done Tom B! Would be unfair to drop him, imo, after this performance. Sercombe also very good and was our best attacking threat. For our extra player poor Nichols and Harrison rarely got service and the crosses we got into the box were poor quality. Some work to do!
