£22 on the gate for away supporters. I thought Harrison won a lot in the air and had a decent 1st half. James came on and we looked a better side though - played more to feet. Billy missed a couple of sitters. 1-3 never a reflection of the game, but we never get a result at Gillingham - it's in the rules. As the above Lines had a stinker.

'James isn't up to it'? The lad put in more of a midfield performance than lines did today. Impressed after coming on, whilst 'one of our own' has his second stinker in as many weeks and gets away with zero criticism. Makes you wonder what people are actually watching. Plus his usual energetic performances opened up plenty of second half chances (Bodin missing the sitter of all sitters) & I'm not sure we'll be seeing Harrison next season, the opening 45mins was as bad a performance from any Rovers forward in living memory. I think that Ellis has had enough chances now but his chances have been when he hasn't had anyone around him to act as a foil for and I would like to see him play with maybe a better striker alongside. However, I think you could well be right in that this could be the season that sees us part company with him. We need to really have a good look around in the summer and strengthen our side and get a decent striker in. It's been on hell of a ride in the last 3 seasons but I feel the next one is where we will see if we really are going to go for promotion or if we have the usual summer of waiting for something to happen and nothing does. I habe to admit that given that last few results, I am a bit worried about next season. For what it's worth I don't think having the snake in this team would have helped us. It seems like Chris Lines is getting comfortable again and not producing his best ( tin hat on) and the players jjsy haven't been producing the goods when it came to playing the teams at the other end of the table. Food for thought indeed It would be good to see Harrison and James up front for the last 3 games in a 4-4-2. I'd like us to keep both and supplement with a 'bigger' target man in the summer. Not so sure that Gaffney has made the step up to Div 1. Lines needs more competition for his "creative" midfield position. If we can retain Lumley that's probably the first objective. Plus a quality mid-fielder and a 'proper' striker would do me. DC has recruited well in the past and I think we all trust him to make the right moves in the summer. If Judas Snake Bench-Sitter hadn't left on dead-line day then we would have been in with a real shout of the play-offs. Ah well - next season it is then. UTG.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, James can not be faulted for effort and commitment, but he's not playing in the right area for me. Probably, and I favour this option, he should play as Easter does, a bit further back and build up chances, or he should, as Owen or Lineker did, be looking to pounce around the penalty spot/6 yard box, but he is a bit of a light weight and easily knocked off balls. He has not scored for a year for no reason.

James is good at linking with other players. For all Ellis strengths (timing his leap for headers, finishing), that isn't one. In theory they could work well together a la Beardsley/Lineker, but I think if they'd shown it in training we'd have seen more of it on the pitch
