Gutted about this as I have to stay out of direct sun, due to the crap I have to take to control this affliction but it would be so cheap for me as insurance for those travelling with pre existing health crap are stung very badly. I got quoted £819 for a 6 day boys outing to Benidorm. In the past I'd have taken the chance of going without insurance. How things change eh mate. Have a good un I go into a bit of a state in the heat mate, uhtoffs syndrome, had it on the beach at woolacombe yesterday, shakimg like a blind lesbian in a fish shop, i tend to ignore what the neuro says and just enjoy life as much as possible, question is for your condition jules, what is the worst that can bappen in 5 days? I dont brother with insurance and take the gamble, althoufh luckily my case is relapsing remitting and not active every day. I suppose you got to weigh up the options, if you decide to go and need someone to keep an eye out then pm or send an fb msg Thank you. I may have to think about this. I will get back to you. I really appreciate the advice from someone else with health crap

All that I can add is that even when I feel ok, my ok is probably nothing like your ok. I do sometimes get scared & I am so tired of this awful and extremely rare disease and in knowing that ANY of what I call my episodes can kill me, no warning. Please forgive me if I have been coming across as self indulgent. It's the last thing I want.

John Kayes getting exposed for charging £100+ over the going rate is quite funny.

John Kayes getting exposed for charging £100+ over the going rate is quite funny. Hi Chewy, could you please link me to the fully organised trip you're offering for cost price?
In all seriousness I wouldn't know John if he punched me in the face, have never been on any of his trips and in the unlikely event I go to Portugal I'll do it myself; but I don't understand the hassle he's getting (not just from you mate, seen plenty of stuff flying on twitter etc).
If you go to a One Stop or corner shop or whatever you'll pay 50% more than in a big Tesco, but sometimes you'll swallow that because you can walk and be there and back in ten minutes, rather than having to get the car out the garage, drive in Bristol traffic and then faff around looking for what you want in a big store. John hasn't booked every seat on every flight from Bristol to wherever we're playing or booked every hotel room in the vicinity so people have no choice but to go with him; he's merely offering people a service who either can't be bothered to do the research, want to relax on holiday without having to stress about logistics, or just don't have the confidence to do it themselves. Anecdotally I've only ever heard great things about the organisation of his trips.
Of course he could do it for cost, but I imagine there's many hours of research that have gone into this, hidden costs like ringing hotels, possible risk of making upfront payments for people that then pull out and instead of enjoying the sun and beer he'll be flapping like a mad man ensuring a load of pissed up Gasheads are on the right coach etc so good on him for spotting the opportunity to make a few quid, he's not forcing anyone to do anything.

I just find people paying £100 over the top to save on about half hour work fantastically funny.

A few of us from work looking at a few days in the sun break (I am the only Gashead but one lad is from Porto). However John is offering a service where a large group of gasheads would be together and travel together, some fans might like that a lot more than travelling on their own.

What's being talked about? What is this deal?
Personally, trips to Europe I arrange myself. Easy to book flights, hotels etc. all from a sedentary position. Then suss local transport at that end. The idea of a package deal (be wherever, whenever) sends a shiver down my spine. When I've been to more exotic places, with severe language or cultural or transport differences, I've had someone else organise stuff. It's horses for courses. If some want to go on a package with transport hotels etc laid on, fair enough. Their call if that (and the price) is their preference. If he's overpriced this, that's his risk, but fair shout to him for doing something.

Someone like yourself who's well travelled won't need John's package, likewise if I were to go I wouldn't go with John as I reckon I'd be able to do it cheaper and would get more freedom as to timings etc. I personally find someone paying circa £15 for a Dominoes pizza absurd when you can get a perfectly nice pizza for a couple of quid from a supermarket and whack it in the oven which is zero effort. I don't slag off Dominos for providing that service or other people for taking it up; they can spend their money how they want. I'm not suggesting we should be bowing at the feet of John, giving him a lap of honour on the pitch at half time or giving him a lifetime season ticket at UWE; but I don't see why he should be vilified for offering a service that some Gasheads are clearly glad of.

If people want to use John Kayes thats up to them. I dont know him from adam, but he is obviously supplying a service people are happy to use.
At the end of the day its up to you if you want to go and how much work you want to put in to it. Personally i would rather do my own thing than perhaps be with a load of people i might not like.
My issue (if it is one) was/is the perception I get of self importance regarding the fuss of the club not giving out details soon enough and people getting uptight that they might not get a Rovers jolly, because those ITK, think they know what is happening

OK - a bit niche... but CE Sabadell FC are in the play-off final (vs Barcelona B) Sunday... winners promoted to La Liga 2. Anyone know of a way to watch it? We do get a mention on their wiki page en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CE_Sabadell_FC

Tour operator Jet2 has cancelled flights to Spain and Portugal following the latest UK government guidance.
The company said it was suspending routes to Almeria, Alicante, Malaga and Murcia from Tuesday up to and including August 16, as well as to Faro, in the Algarve region of Portugal.
