...there will be a tour:
Rovers have confirmed that instead they will be embarking on a short tour abroad between July 17-21. The club hope to have the destination confirmed within the next 10 days. (from BP)
BP goes on to list the usual sports venues such as La Manga and Portugal bases; it even throws Jordan into the mix, can't see that but it would be great. I love a pre-season tour, but where will BRFC choose?

I live in Lisbon Portugal, still get to see the Gas 10-15 times a season but mates enjoy my season ticket when I am not about.
In terms of fixtures Lisbon would be ideal, direct flight from Bris and plenty from Heathrow. Lovely city, great climate and cheap as chips (which they serve with everything).
Benfica and Sporting Lisbon the big clubs in town but my local team are Estorill, which play in a 8000 seater stadium. In the top flight currently but for most of their history fair similar to the Gas in the second or third division, ideal fixture for the Gas. Maybe too late for this year but with some planning maybe good for next.
I have a mate who works with Sporting he says lots of teams use their training facilities in the pre seaso

What's wrong with the I.O.W. again ! It all started to go wrong when we gave up on W-s-M under canvas . . . Skip through to 1:48 for BRFC footage, but I think that the whole video is interesting.

We played in Bangkok in May 1974 following the tour Down Under and New Zealand following our 1973 promotion season. Anyone go ? We left Temple Meads on the Friday night getting the Mallard via Chiang Mai. Fringum and Pauly Paul Paul got in a Watney Party 7 each and Big Salton was on a bottle of vodka he'd bought back from Poland after the war. It was the height of the swinging seventies and we managed bag a couple of punk lasses to get randy with in carriage number 4, one of them was called Paula and was ginger, that was the style of the day. As we arrived in Bankok we took in the sights, a city obliterated by the Japanese and being made more ugly by brutalist architecture. We met a good friend Crimpo outside Bangkok Road on a scooter, he was eating a spam fritter made from spam and batter. Tony "The Dolton" Dolton was also there, he had zero spam. Anyway, we went in, swang around our rattles and enjoyed the atmosphere before smashing the sh*t out of some Thai Rockers. Great day out.
