Lumsden & Sweeney both outstanding. So inexperienced but huge contributions in last 3 games! UTG

Excellent result and performance (again). Obviously Sheff Utd are top for a reason. Physically strong and powerful, they are slick, fast and counter with precision. Easily for me the best team in all departments to visit the Mem. We helped keep them at bay and created one or two moments ourselves. I think both team happy with a point. Again Sweeny, Locks combo reaped rewards. Solid. Joanna Lumley pulled a worldy in second half but unwittingly set them up to hit post with poor clearance a bit after. Wow this lad has a kick on him....i swear one of his clearances should've registered as a shot on target! Have to say dc masterstroke bringing on two wide men. Not for the personnel per se, but for change in formation, strengthening in widths, extra pace in right place and service providers for front two. For me, Moore has a long way to go....Monty looked brilliant, created space, broke with purpose and had decent shot well saved. I hope our mid isn't judged too harshly. They had their work cut out and coped admirably. Sincs, Moore, Monty Ollie, Lines and Bodin all put in tremendous effort with varying degrees of attainment. Rory never stopped running. Not sure what happened with his chance of glory. I gotta feeling he bottled it. I gotta feeling officials got it right. Such a shame as if he'd scored, I'm sure his confidence would've rocketed higher than Traitors miss v Derby. Gotta admire his heart though (on valentines day), his perseverance and endurance. Well done Blade fans for turning up in numbers, making some noise, and supporting a club that will inevitably be in Championship next year. The roar when we had goal disallowed made me proud....we can turn the volume up at The Mem....and silence top of table 1,160 opponents. Great crowd, Gas. Great performance and well played as a team. This is Rovers all over, an honest hard working display and a thoroughly well deserved point gained. Well done us, UptheGas! Couldn't go last night, but sounded a good point.
the few games I have seen Lumley he certainly has a good kick on him and it's noticeable how he is trusted to take certain free kicks that Puddy/Mildenhall wouldn't have been allowed as Marcus "Do your F'n Job" Stewart would have said
So do we need a new defensive coach now? or have we just improved the defenders?. Sweeney looks a good player, but I guess we don't have much chance of keeping him and I suppose Burn in theory will take that place next season. At least Burn now gets to settle into the club
5 points off the play-offs now but not undoable and I am sure we can manage 6 points to be safe
Definitely been a finding our feet season and given all the changes of various nature, rotation, players leaving and coming in a pretty successful one

Just watched the hightlights, no pen for me. Gaffs didn't look like he was going to score. I've said before, where I stand they all slate Harrison regardless of what he does, but I'd back him in that situation. He worked hard as did Gaffers but he lacks confidence.

Well I'm sure if we had the same defensive structure as the start of season, and/or dodgy keeper and inexperienced chelski kids, we would be 7points off play offs at least. Whether it is coaching or change in personnel, or combination of both, who knows? All I know is the stupid mistakes are at a minimum, all the team are pulling together defensively, and we aren't being ruthlessly punished for every little error, in fact alot of times individuals recover their errors to make amends. There is alot more confidence emanating with our organisation in back 5, and the crowd pick up on it.....that 'wowww' when Lumley saved top corner strike illustrates it. Sheff Utd (and to certain extent, Bradford) are the business. We did well to hold the for large periods if the game and then dominate in closing 10-20 mins. Both Bradford and Blades have an inflated budget by our standards, and more resource and infrastructure. I've always rated Chris Wilder and he sets his teams up, we paid due respect but weren't overcome or satirised by their play like v Charlton. Maybe with a bit more tweaking we can really be a threat, but we still need a dominant physically imposing centre forward, but as ever in dc we trust..

I feel we may be looking at a lot of draws from here on in as we really don't look like we have the goals in us. Sorry to bring it up on here but Taylor really did a number on us and, like it or not, he did a lot of work without the ball that created space for others. To see him look so bloody happy over there is sickening. I hope he reaps what he sows and that his disloyalty bites him badly.

So far our new forward line has had something of a baptism of fire against Rochdale away, Bradford and Sheffield United. That's a tough start when there's suddenly a lot more pressure on you to be 'the main man' (particularly for Harrison). These are very good defensive sides who are where they are for a reason. So I'll withhold judgement until I've seen what they can do against other sides. They deserve the chance to bed in a bit I think - it's not easy to change the approach mid season like this.

Exactly, we've spent 2 1/2 seasons playing our attack to suit one player, take him out and there's going to be a transition period. The difference is, when we rescued Turncoat's career he was allowed to find his feet here against teams of part timers, they gave him chance after chance in every game, last night our front line took on a defence that will hold its own against 2nd tier opposition.

Yes - I think it's easy to underestimate the extent to which our attack was built around Taylor almost from the word go. Not just in terms of setting him up to score either but also in emphasising his role in the build-up. Everything seemed to run through Taylor. So far, from what I've seen, we've decided to switch to a more basic and direct style of play in his absence. But that could just be because it's the easiest style of play to implement in the short-term. I think DC and the forwards deserve a chance to develop a style of play that plays to the strength of the players we have now. They may indeed turn out not to cut the mustard (and go back to being squad players or shipped out) but they deserve a shot till at least the end of the season. In the meantime there are very promising signs at the defensive end which in the long-term is probably far more important.

Fair comment and true. As a longterm rovers supporter I always give the team time. I'm not going to suddenly stop being Gas.
