I suggest anyone who hasn't heard it to go and listen to it. Then after listening properly to every word, you will feel depressed about the future. I'm not sure anyone can continue to back the board with such enthusiasm when the last 10 months have been spent chatting to UWE, with another 7 months of chatting on the cards, and even then it might not happen. Christ on a bike, and I thought I was bloody miserable! It's a bloody miserable state of affairs. The honeymoon period is well and truly over, Hamer also came out with some other gems like we are near our wage cap and need to ship players out, how the feck can we be near the cap when we've hardly spent a penny all season & turnover must be up massively.

Haven't heard the interview but your second sentence is very worrying. You should listen to it,Twentyman said its available for 30 days, the facts given were 'Its cold' (at Walsall) 'Rome wasnt built in a day' 'Building a stadium isnt like building a conservatory on your house' he said that twice so it must be true. I found it interesting when he said that the scenery had changed at UWE since the plans were first made ( he said that twice too) and that they were still building there. Twentyman was quite good he didnt let Hamer off the hook and he (Hamer) got a bit defensive and whiney,i thought he might start crying at one stage. Anyway it will all be sorted by August....probably.

'Fleetwood have built an £8m training facility' and Hamer and co are going to take a look at it

on UWE it sounds like the Al Qadi team wanted a lot of changes, UWE are a bit bureaucratic (public body) and also looking for a deal
but its still in the best interests of both sides to seal a deal

I listened to the full interview and afterwards felt deflated and fed up. Can i articulate my reasons? maybe not but nothing hamer said made me happy or optimistic.

I'm frustrated at what looks like almost wilfully throwing away any chance of making the play offs by refusing to do what everyone else does when they have a run of results that needs breaking, why didn't we go to Walsall, stink the place out and hope to nick a winner in off the ref's arse in the last minute? But miserable? From where we were 2 years ago, that's beyond even me, and I can drag almost any occasion down! Honeymoon may be over for you, I'm still quite excited to find out what's been salvaged from the mess Higgs left behind. Wage cap; attendances are good, but how much of that money came in during the summer and how much cash do we take on a match day? Sorry if living within our means is inconvenient for you, but it's that or a points deduction for not following the rules isn't it?

Hamer answered very few questions. At least not to the conciseness I would've liked.
August is the only new news that came out of that.
I'll plump for an announcement around triggering of Article 50. If you believe both or either will happen the way you expect it, you're braver than me..

Clear out of players, no real news on UWE is worrying. Is it because of a lack of funds or is it because we will be reinvesting into the team and the negotiations with UWE are very difficult because we are the ones who have changed the goal posts - perhaps UWE have too - who knows? Wasn't there supposed to have been a report given to the Board about the viability of UWE? What has happened with that? There are a lot of questions starting to rise with little sign of answers to so I for one am becoming worried about things both on and off the pitch. Hope this is entirely misplaced! I beleive hebsaid the Ernst and Young Feasability study came back and there were no concerns

20p did ask the questions, and didn't give him much wriggle room, and Hamer seemed uncomfortable - a bit more of 'I understand the fans' concerns and why you are asking Geoff' might have helped

I thought I was a cynic. Have the New Board or Al-Qadi told us any lies? No. Do It believe in blind faith - No. But I trust the new owners. Wael Al-Qadi - is an articulate, passionate football supporter and proven businessman. He stands with the away support. He is either the greatest actor in history - or he genuinely cares about our Club. Steve Hamer may be a little under-whelming. But I'd rather him under-promise and over-deliver than vise-versa. Expectation management and all that. We have had no strategic plan since leaving Eastville in 1986. That's 31 years. Waiting a little longer to thrash out a deal with UWE does not concern me. We're back to exactly where we historically belong (10th in the old Division 3) - having played non-league football just 2 years ago. I'm still on honeymoon and I'm a miserable bas*ard. So lighten up FFS.

So the Ernst and Young report is in and nothing of concern about the UWE in it. So good news there. The purchase of the training ground will be 3 Feb, so good news there. Bit worried about the cap issue as surely this should have been budgeted for at the start of the season! As for UWE, of both parties want it to happen as Hamer says, then it should be OK and an extension to the present planning permission could be sought if negotiations have to go beyond August. If negotiations fail......

I'm presuming it was (although it might have gone up with the increased attendances?), but he threw that in to make sure that we understood part of the reasoning for letting 6 players go this week

The cap bit is concerning. Apart from increased crowds, we had a lucrative fixture with Chelsea that must've reaped thousands. And we beamed back which must've made money? Tho wasn't factored into any planning. Plus, corporate hospitality has been close to sell out every home match and we've sold out every box!
Admittedly running costs are higher, but our revenue must gave increased in multitudes in comparison?

The purchase of the land for the training ground would/will be a reassurance that there's nothing 'up'.

Or so he was hoping to imply
I don't know how the cap works. Off this year's receipts (which are unknowable in advance), last year's, other?

I think the initial cap is based on last season's income but it can be adjusted if income increased if there is a significant change and I would suggest we have had a significant increase in income. I may be wrong though, just seem to remember a similar debate a long time ago on this subject.

Multiply by say £15 add on for food etc may make £18. Multiply by no of home fixtures divide by say 26 weeks. How much are we talking? Does it cover the difference in the 2 squads with a significant amount left over? Doubt it.
