Bristol Rovers vs Swansea City B/U21's. No thanks. I'm boycotting the competition and really hope others do the same. I'm all for boycotting the B/U21 games but struggle to see the point of boycotting the normal games.
The competition is poorly supported and have been told for years teams don't really make any money from the early games.
I suspect most of the clubs voted it through because the PL boosted the prize pot and hoped it would generate interest.
Personally either turn out for the regular games or they might as well scrap the whole competition
Boycott the tournament in protest at the utter devaluation of the competition by allowing reserve teams to enter. I'd rather they scrapped it altogether than allow reserve teams to enter it.

I will NOT be attending any games other than against 'normal' league sides The EFL claim that it is a way to improve prospects of the England team - how would prem league academy players improve their game playing against less technically gifted lower league players? I can see this developing into a Premier League cup particularly as the FA Cup has been horribly devalued by the same premier league opting not to play full strength teams I said at the time of the creation of the Premier League it would be the worst thing to happen to football and lessen the chances of British players I can kind of see the benefit for the academies - its an introduction to the 'men's world' for the mollycoddled youngsters. But for the football league teams, none at all - in fact, its an insult.
Can someone tell the FA that they are supposed to be there for all of football, and that the world doesn't revolve around the England team?

Yeah, following Rovers is all about glory eh Mike.

This doesn't seem at all well thought out or planned. We await an announcement of a date for the draw: I think I can see why, now.

A few years ago they invited non league sides in (Didn't we sneak past a non league Yeovil?), which I quite liked, but this idea really does stink.

Arsenal and Chelsea set to decline as well - shambles typical EFL If true the whole things is a cock up. Something must have been agreed with the PL clubs as they/the PL are putting in money to boost the prize fund May as well withdrawal all the invitations and have the trophy in the same format and just have 12 groups of 4 and have some best place second teams go through

With only 21 clubs with grade 1 academies and Man City on the cusp of declining as well there could be a real problem in fulfilling the 16 required

Strewth! There we were talking about the fans boycotting this. Seems like the clubs are doing that quite nicely thank you, on our behalf. The saying of "If it looks right it probably is right" comes to mind. This never did and it just aint right.

It's fallen apart before it's even got started.
The FL really are an incompetent bunch of idiots.

In the new format, the top two from each group of four go through to a round of 32 (presumably to maximise the frenzied excitement).

This is looking like a complete car crash!
You'd think that this would only have been announced only AFTER they were sure that Premier League clubs would be interested. Someone has made some massive assumptions here - increasingly it is looking like something that was drawn up on the back of a beer mat by football league officials during an extended liquid lunch on a friday afternoon.....

I thought the initial idea for the competition, was that lower league teams, had a chance of a Wembley final....
