Two peripheral things to a great afternoon, well from 4pm on: Nick Day must be about the best PA guy in the league. His speech leading up to the silence last week was another brilliant one and all through the games he keeps the spirit going with appropriate humour, the interviews at half-time show good knowledge and he deals with the new owners in style without being obsequious. (Yes, I know he's a professional on the radio, but so is Robbie Savage.) Secondly, the system of choosing MOTM needs looking at. To choose McChrystal, after a fair OK game, before Lawrence after a brilliant free kick and assist from the corner or two-goal Taylor or Lockyer who was way better in defence was rather illogical. How is the MOTM selected and do the selectors choose a player just to meet him after the game? Having attended the FFSC sponsored games and watching from up in the Gods of the Dribuild you get a great perspective of the whole game. It is from there that the quiet encouragement and organising that MM does of the whole defence is far more visible, and possibly the reason for the group choosing the MoM as they did (and as the FFSC did in choosing MM at one of our sponsored games).
It is my veiw that MM and Lockyer really complement one another far better than any other central pairing. MM quietly helps Tom, and in return Mark plays better as he knows he can rely on the younger man completely.
I accept that they are a fair pairing, but they were hardly facing Real Madrid, and Creepy's forward line, if there was one, was not troubling. At he other end of the pitch the box was crowded and required guile from set pieces.

I was worried today as we looked very lethargi***til we scored. Harold was causing our defence all sorts of problems Anyone not there today might read your comment and think it was accurate, but it isn't. Matt Harrold did his normal job of being aimed at with long balls and occasionally jostling with defenders. That was all. He never looked like scoring and he never looked like creating a goal either. Gaffney worked twice as hard and contributed twice as much, without playing well. I know who I'd rather have. Matt Harrold jumped a little bit higher than when he was with us. He also didn't fall over and appeal for a foul quite as much. He was totally ineffective. "s**t Rory Gaffney, you're just a s**t Rory Gaffney" was a chant that deserved more decibels.

As much fun that might be to bait an ex player (and I'm not a hypocrite, because I've done this before), I feel this is a bit harsh considering Matt Harrold CHOSE to take his family to Wembley to support us last May, wearing our colours. I am proud to say I supported him from the day he was signed, to his walking off the Mem yesterday to a standing ovation from every part of the ground! His tweet says it all.. 20h20 hours ago Matthew Harrold @mjharrold Gutted about the result today...safe journey home to the Crawley fans. Appreciate the reception from the gasheads really hope you go up ? Respect..

Absolutely agree with you, it was great chatting with him at Wembley and to see at least one of his young sons in our colours, there aren't many ex players who would have done that. Caught him having a smile at us in the 2nd half when the North Enclosure were chanting "Harold, Harold what's the score ?" but loved the ovation we gave him when he came off, I think that indicates the feeling many Gasheads have towards him

This. Watching Matt Harold brought back exactly why we were rooted to the bottom of the League. I'm sure he's a lovely bloke, but he's as weak as a kitten and offers next to nothing in terms of goal threat. 9 goals from 37 games this season, highest placed opposition he's scored against Cambridge who are 12th. Would you have him back? Funny as we said that in the first half Harold was putting a good fight up, more so than we remembered for us. Second half was better for us, and poor for Harold. He got a good reception when subbed, partly because he did Nothing to hurt us. In all honesty and no BS at all, I saw a couple of decent runs by LDV but I didn't even notice MH. I enjoyed seeing an opposing team who at least tried to go forward with the ball but I did not see any of their players that stood out. The one thing that I did notice is our midfield once again seem to not push forward and a better side could have taken advantage of the space in that part of the field. I thought Linesy had a couple of decent forward runs but that Lawrence was poor and even that superbly taken goal took away from his lack of pace and not being in the places that he should have been another 3 points and back in amongst the auto spots. It's going to be tighter than a nuns cnut, with a fair few teams there or thereabouts. Seems Plymuff are tripping and all it would take is one slip from Poxford. This is going to be a very interesting last 6. I am so glad that I've been able to make it. The positivity around the club is a joy to behold

As it happens we, the FFSC, picked MM after a game in which Ellis Harrison scored a brace and boy, did we get some stick for doing that. As has already been said, you do get a much better view from the dribuild and it gives a totally different perspective. In all honesty I do think it was a bizarre choice but I won't moan because it's really not easy to do and it always gets others to have a little pop. I am glad it's not something we get to do often
