Article in The Week discussing England exiting the World Cup. The last paragraph caught my eye: "One remedy would be to ditch the 'big, ungainly' centre-backs and replace them with 'canny, passing midfielders' who can start the attacks from deep in the field. Another would be to start controlling the ball in midfield - something that England never attempted in Brazil, nor will they ever do as long as an English manager is in charge. What the FA should do is turn to a 'revolutionary foreign coach obsessed with the pass'. He would pick a 'warrior-free team full of no-name players' - just what England needs. 'The English way of thinking hasn't worked and it's time to bin it." So ... maybe DC is onto something then.

When something does turn up they pretend that was the plan all along and heads start nodding in agreement.
