Victim He signed the contracts and everything was legally binding. He was telling the truth in early May by saying " We aim to build in the summer" and was on course for a early June start. However: due to JC and EH application this delayed it. However: all was ready to be signed off and the monies was in the post for a September 2014 start. However: a phone call from Sainsburys indicated bad news.. Nick told the truth and is a victim and acted in good faith.. Spinner Due to two relegations and a failed Memorial revamping . Also debts of around £6-8 million. Nick needed to 'beef up' good news. Despite nothing signed off and only pre- legal agreements nothing was binding. Nick knowing their was so much bad press around the club took a risk and decided to over exaggerate . In his heart he thought he could pull it off but this was over ambitious .. Nick wanted good news badly.. What do you think Victim or Spinner ?

Probably a mixture of both to a greater or lesser degree. Whatever, the sum total is gross incompetence.

Too much nonsense has gone on over tha least few years.
I just see the board as one that delivers and one that does not.
We'll soon find out what Nick Higgs is.

Incompetent buffoon, I'd feel sorry for him for being in a role he's totally unsuited for if it wasn't self inflicted.

Has Nick now admitted to a phone call from Sainsbury's or is this speculation?

I mean eg just say there were some fibbers on this forum,so what, what difference does it make to Box 1 that have led us from 3rd,4th,5th division and all the rest of it!

Basel, I have no comment on what the BOD does or not do as I know nothing, I do know however that some people on here speak with a forked tounge. I have watched the BRFC decline for 55 years, from the heights of being a reasonable Championship side to what we have now. It heart breaking.

Wouldn't NH look a bit stupid if he Sainsbury's came out and said he lied by saying the project was still on track?
NH must be one of the unluckiest football chairman around, first the Mem redevelopment is knocked for 6 by the financial crisis now the UWE seems to be following a similar path by the change in habits of supermarket customers, after being delayed by Trash, can NH really be blamed for either?
What else could he have done? Even getting relegated was a bit unlucky when we went down on goal difference.

The alarms bells were screaming when overnight it seemed to go from hoping to start the build by the end of the summer to hoping to start the build by the end of the year. A few months seemed to have been bought, but those months will run out sooner rather than later and the bulls**t will then have to stop. I'd rather get any bad news out in the open before the season starts otherwise the chaos it will cause could have serious effect to on field matters.

Perhaps getting to the start of the season is the aim now? The way the Conference dealt with Hereford & Salisbury they could well throw us out of their league if they think we can't service our debts should Sainsbury's pull out? Once the fixtures are out that might give the club breathing space?

Nick Higgs is a victim of his own wishful thinking.
Like many people who made a lot of money very suddenly he thought everything he touched would turn to gold.
I know that because it happened to me too.
Nick had offers of help but he spurned them.
Very soon we are going to have to move on and the calls today for unity are prescient.
When we move on I hope the club listens to the views of everyone right across the Bristol Rovers spectrum.

Yup. A 'victim' of his own hubris. It's actually a tradgedy now, as we watch him digging himself deeper with every move.

I think Nick Higgs is in an incredibly difficult position.
Yes maybe some of this is his own making with past poor communication and comments but on this particular situation I'm not sure what he can do but keep a low profile.
