I would like to see Rovers get a couple of good loan signings and really try for promotion. Nearly all the present players contracts are up this summer and DC could have a good sort out,get rid of some and replace with better. Rovers have never been able to sustain 2nd tier football for long and now its even harder to compete with relegated Premiership clubs as city have found out,I would be happy watching Rovers in the 3rd tier as long as they play attacking football not hoofball.

I would like to see Rovers go up. However watching the Portsmouth game said it all for me. Need much better players at a higher level than we have now.
IMO with the present team, we are a good high to middle position team.

With regards the run in I must admit I will be a little surprised if DC isn't given the license and funds to bring in a couple of decent loan signings to help make a push to cement a playoff or place or even better get an automatic place.
It would seem strange if the owner didn't want to take advantage of the place we currently find ourselves in with the run in to the end of the season just ahead of us.

After only four promotions in my forty plus years of suffering, i would never turn down number five. I dont think we are good enough for top three unless as mentioned we can get two or three players in. A play off place is fine, seventh will do, no pressure, and plenty of times the team finishing last often comes good in the play offs.Anythings better than staring at relegation every season.

It is their determination and never-say-die attitude and second half comebacks that has got us where we are. But it's been good so far!

I think we finished 16th in our first season in League 1 under Trolls and Lennie, with never a hint of relegation. And that was a league containing Leeds, Forest, Swansea and Huddersfield.
We only signed Pipe and Andy Williams, Lambert was still far from being the player he'd grow into and we essentially lost Walker after about 6 weeks of the season.
With the contract situation we'd have the freedom to replenish the squad (not sayingoing we should, evolution not revolution) so for me there's no reason we couldn't at least stabilise ourselves in League One without spending a fortune.

My point was that we can't just choose to go up if we are going to stay up because all we can do is our best season by season. We can't try not to go up because we might get relegated, that's just stupid!! UTG!

To be fair to the OP I sort of think I understand what he is getting at but as KP mentioned I think it may be rooted in how we as fans have been indoctrinated to expect nothing good to happen. It's like Red said in The Shawshank Redemption - we have become institutionalised....

Always take it. It's better than the alternative.
Did anyone really say 'damn, that's bad news' on getting promoted?
Worst case: we come down again, and how is that worse than not having not gone up at all?

Yes we are. Please everyone get your heads around this incredible situation we now find ourselves in. All what we have become used to over the years, selling our best players, trimming budgets, cost cutting, wondering if we can sign any players is a thing of the past. We are in with a great chance of going up again. The new owner will back Darrell all the way if it's possible. If we go up, next season we will recruit players to take us further. The resources are there to sustain real progress. The Mem will be packed if we are gettin FB the results. 100% we are ready to go up!

Yes I understand what he is getting at and on some days I could agree with him but I guess promotion comes along so rarely and I'm getting old so I don't want to pass up an opportunity!! When at Wembley in 2007 I wouldn't have swapped that promo for not going up just because we might not stay up. Christ we are disagreeing when we don't disagree! The last two weeks have been unusual because now I'm pretty sure that if we do go up we will strengthen the side. UTG!

Don't think we've ever had consecutive promotions in our history.. last season, this season, next season would look good!

This is all hope not fact, I hope that its correct but we don't know yet. The new owner has given interviews where he says the right things,he has kissed the badge and had his picture taken with fans many times, but until he actually does something positive I am reserving judgment on the new regime.
Surely Rovers need some quality loan signings now ? ( even more so with Sinclair out) to strengthen the promotion bid.

I don't want to go up. I like being s**t, I like being able to stand in my usual spot, I like the welly quite quiet, I like being able to park close to the ground, success brings more people and good football. If I wanted lots of people and good football I wouldn't watch Rovers.
Please don't ruin my club Mr Al-Qadi.

I would bet that the fact there are no loan signings are more due to DC than the new regime as you put it. Think we have great chance of being something with Wael and Co leading us. They have saved out club from potential and eventual administration and now with all the board changes and people being brought in things are only looking up. I am grateful we have been rescued and couldn't be more impressed with new board.
