The news about the open letter from the MP's broke yesterday morning, yet Radio Bristol ignored it. There was no mention of it on the Twentyman show yesterday or in their news bulletins.
I haven't listened to their news today but I can see from the threads on here that there has been no reaction from our esteemed chairman. Are the media even trying to contact him? If not why not? It is pretty big news that the local MP's have written to the CEO of Sainsburys urging him to keep to the terms of the agreement, it is pretty big news that Sainsburys inaction is mentioned in Prime Ministers questions, it is pretty big news that the MPs representing us obviously feel nervous that Sainsburys are going to pull out of a scheme that has a massive positive knock on impact for the region.
So this is something that Higgs has to be asked his opinion on. As an ex Rover I would hope that at least GT would be trying to get a reaction and if he is unable to get a reaction he should tell us that too.
If Higgs is restricted to what he can say about the detail of the hold up I see no reason how he can be restricted in responding to the events of the last two days. If nothing has changed he can tell us that, but he should be challenged because he needs to be asked why the MP's, one of whom he has clearly worked closely with in getting the permissions through now feel sufficiently uncertain about Sainsburys intentions that they need to take matters to the highest level of both the company and the government.
Come on Geoff do your stuff. PLEASE.

It was covered on this mornings breakfast show and Charlotte Leslie was interviewed live. She confirmed that the club had gone quiet regarding the stadium.
I do agree that Twentyman is harder hitting as he knows what to ask unlike Le Fevre who is worse than useless.

I like Geoff Twentyman and he has done a lot to improve sports on the BBC, his transition to news is OK - but all that is ruined on his current show with the obsession that is the scroll of honour. The show is now virtually unlistenable for what it is supposed to be - a news magazine show - because every time you turn to it and in any possible gap or opening it is just reading of peoples names on and on - boring or what. Ditch all that nonsense and put some news in - as suggested above.

I was glad that it wasn't mentioned on radio or TV yesterday, because I didn't want too much noise about it - I hoped that it would have been sorted out without any fuss and bother. However, the longer it goes on without any confirmation or statements, the more it is needed for noise to be made.
As for Geoff's Quest that's not a patch on old Roger Bennett's weekly Treasure Hunt (back in the day). Clues to a different place on Monday to Thursday, and then you drew a cross to find out where the treasure was buried on the Friday. Proper hardcore radio quizzing that was.

Geoff is OK on Sports and filling in for absent colleagues. However he's just not cut out for what should be a news heavy show around teatime.

I've not been able to listen to the show tonight but has there been any mention of the events of the last two days or talking to Higgs?

I have found from talking to them that some local Journalists are scared to cause any bad press for the club as the club wont interact with them again. We need a hard hitting journo from somewhere to properly investigate what the heck is going on.

Geoff Twentyman has never given any indication (not to me at least) that he is at all interested or concerned with the fortunes of BRFC. Perhaps as an employee of the BBC he is duty-bound to bury his affections. Who knows?
Geoff was a player of limited ability, who thanks to the efforts of Bobby Gould and Gerry Francis Mk I, and a team of individuals who played alongside him (and out of their collective skins as well) had a reasonably successful career with us. But like a lot of players he didn't take kindly to being released from the club when the time came, and before setting off across the Irish Sea called the club ''amateurish'' in a fit of pique. Now he may well have been right in what he said, in fact he probably was, but that's not the point is it? Should a moderately talented player who gave everything, and enjoyed a relatively successful career with BRFC, leave with such a broadside? Personally I think not. Loyalty you see.
I think that his problem with the club is the above, and his failure to make the grade as Assistant Manager to Ian Holloway, when Geoff again left in a huff. But perhaps we should be grateful to him that he didn't appear to want to leave the club, and was part of a successful Rovers team.
But in posting this I don't hold any sort of grudge against GT, in fact I think that I/we have good reason to be grateful to him, but over the years I have been a little mystified by him.

E-mail them and say so. People (rightly) complain about their lack of substance in our local media, but you'd be suprised just how much impact a few contacts from the public can be- they don't actually get that many. For example it's quite easy to get a letter published in the BP just because they get so few. If it's well written and doesn't come across like an obsessive nut-jobthen by writing it you're practically doing their job for them. That's what most local PR types spend most of their time doing, and individuals can do it as well. DON'T be rude or accuse them of being crap or scared, but do mention that other news sources are covering this.

I don't think I have ever heard Twentyman say anything even the slightest bit controversial he continually sits on the fence even when he has the opportunity to grill someone who needs grilling,it is the most sanitised programme it has ever been my misfortune to listen to,dont expect any action from him.
