On the OS there's an interview with Marcus Stewart about his new role as Assistant Manager. It looks like he's not going to be replaced as Development Coach, but he will oversee that role. He says:
“I will still be responsible for organising midweek reserve/development games, though we may not play as many as we did last season because we don’t have as many players on the books."
Well, I didn't think we played that many anyway; and surely Clarke has said there's more signings on the way. Even if youngsters go out on loan, as Clarke has said, they have in the past been brought back for these games for coaches and manager to have a closer look.
Good luck to you Marcus. I hope you do well in your new role, but I'm disappointed by this news.

15 out 5 in at the last count but I agree that the unused subs and players out of favour must stay match fit and reserve games must be the best way to achieve this. Also these players must get thoroughly used to the playing style that , if we believe what we are told will be very different from Wards tactics of last season.

I think in the conference you are only allowed 5 subs which means less space in the matchday squad!

absolutely nothing stopping friendlies against local clubs for matches, and applying next season to join the western league

I think we only played 10 reserve team games last season, so to cut down that number is a worry and over the course of the season it could end up only being 1 game every 6 weeks, which for a squad of 23 is nowhere near enough matches.

absolutely nothing stopping friendlies against local clubs for matches, and applying next season to join the western league Reserve teams are only allowed up to County League, there's nothing to stop Rovers doing what Chippenham have done and start a seperate feeder club (Chippenham Parkway) however I see that as completely pointless. Friendlies against local clubs should be a priority IMO.

Rovers played Mangos last season, it was a strange game but entertaining none the less. Rovers should really look to take the county cup very seriously this year.
