If I recall it was around 40 for, 20 against. Trouble is its difficult to gauge whether a club truly supported EPPP because of the virtual blackmail put in place by the Premier League/FA (i.e. if you don't say yes, we'll take away your youth funding)

It does make you wonder why any lower league club invests in a youth squad/academy as any half decent player is poached for peanuts. This is what that w*nker Greg Dyke should have been focussing on. Spot on Pess!

A Rovers supporter too. A very talented U16 keeper there is no doubt. Relegation is costing us in more ways than we can imagine !! Still no news about Ollie Mehew (Boris' son) a very promising centre forward !? young olly mehew has signed and is up in blackburn , rovers directors instead of announcing are trying to keep it quiet Well I never knew that, did you? Whatever happened to the power of the press, eh? As for Marcus Beauchamp, well we already needed a reserve team goalie, and we still do.

Manchester United refused and young Mehew was on his way from that day onwards. I can understand the thinking of demanding a fee but the bigger picture of forging links with MUFC were ignored and to this day I regret not taking the chance of building bridges with Chelsea when Sinclair moved there.

So are Blackburn Rovers directors also keeping this news to themselves?

Funny enough all deals can be found here

Funny enough all deals can be found hereI think that this is such an important story oxongas, that it deserves a thread of its own. It seems to me that this news has only just trickled out (for whatever reason), and the club has lost potentially three fine young players for what will probably amount to peanuts. The financial considerations are one thing, but how on earth is the club to make progress when this likelihood is always hanging over us? On a different note (and while I have your attention ), I hope that someone is talking to Gashead Wes. If you put to one side the pettiness of the situation, and cut to the chase, what a shame it is to lose a first-class poster and one who is so well informed. My own take on it all is that first and foremost we are all presumably supporters of BRFC, so we're all on the same side, and if someone posts something that you object to, then by all means let them know, but in a controlled and well mannered way. Good healthy debate, that's what we need. I just hope that that Wes is back sooner rather than later, and certainly before the start of the season.

It seems pointless getting excited about any 'good uns' these days as the chances are they won't even play a first team game!
If the UWE is dead, you can see us dropping like eg Bulls in a season or two.

Inside the Young Footballer Industry Duration: 27 minutes First broadcast: Wednesday 25 June 2014 Face the Facts investigates how the professional club academies recruit thousands of young footballers - some of them only five years-old. Critics say it's a system that operates on an industrial scale which damages grass roots "fun" football and guarantees disappointment for thousands of players and their families. Yet, when the 2013-14 Premier league season kicked off last August, only 75 of the 220 starting players were qualified to play for England. And despite often being described as "the best club league in the world," the English Premier League (EPL) has seen a gradual decline in the performance of the national team. Greg Dyke responds for the Football Association and General Secretary Nic Coward responds for the EPL. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b047wfym

Good healthy debate, that's what we need. I just hope that that Wes is back sooner rather than later, and certainly before the start of the season. I believe Wes has said that he has previously recommended players to the club but they have never taken up his recommendations. Someone on the old OF once contacted someone at the club who claimed they'd never heard of him. So other than losing the information on this forum it appears BRFC have never benefited from his knowledge. It's a shame he has decided to take offence to some criticism on this forum and disappear but that's exactly what happened on the OF but he eventually returned. I'm not sure if he suffers the best of health because he's admitted he couldn't regularly do any scouting because of his health.

Wes is very knowledgeable about non league football and i have picked up on some of his recommendations and looked at them for my employer,i will go no further than that.I can confirm he has a debilitating illness that restricts his ability to travel.

Well done for posting that Brian, perhaps a few people might be a bit more understanding of Wes now. Give him my regards when you next speak to him.
