Ooh yet more revenue lost - anyway hopefully we can now get Thatchers interested, unless of course those bridges have already been burned?
I think they won a full page ad in the programme last season in the shirt sponsorship draw but for whatever reason this never materialised and Thatchers quietly disappeared from the list of companies that even participated in the draw (I can only assume Blackthorn pulled the plug and Rovers refunded their raffle fee?).
Anyway, I hope the relationship with them remains strong and we can entice them back. Much prefer Thatchers to Blackthorn anyway

Thatchers end anyone?
looks to me like the decison to change the recipe has destroyed their brand and i for one am thankful for not suffering any further blackthorn blackouts!
anyone for a gold?

Get Thatchers or Butcombe in the bars and then I'd drink in there if it was thatchers or Ashton press on tap

Yes - Thatcher's end - in honour of the greatest British leader of the 2nd Half of the 20th Century.
She'd have sorted the BoD pdq.

She would have simply closed Rovers down - just like she did with most of British industry when she was in power. We could then all watch imported football. Still it would have stopped all the unrest from the unions forums.

She would have carried out an independent top-down review, eliminated the wets/hangers on on the Board, streamlined the playing staff, got rid of those who were pulling big salaries but not pulling their weight, got rid of those who were not committed to the shirt, encouraged skill and initiative, brought in a capable Manager, allowed the Manager to manage, implemented performance-related pay, encouraged investment and relationships with big business. We'd have made profits. Our performance would have dramatically improved. Our success would have allowed us to fill the UWE (which would have been built by now) every week. We wouldn't have been in the Football League, we'd have been in the Champions' League.
I guess we all want most of the above. I believe that she would have had more chance of success than the current incumbents.
I seem to have lost track of what this thread was about - Sorry.

Ooh yet more revenue lost I wonder if this has registered with Toni Wattola yet? With his track record I wouldn't bet on it, but I do wonder if the club can afford another abacus for his office. He may well need it.

When I first read this I thought I'd probably still think of it as the Blackthorn End whatever it ended up getting called. But Bath Ales? Mmmmm... mmmmm some more. Blackthorn End forgotten already

And sold the club to foreign owners like she did with everything else

Blackthorn End forgotten already This is my point! the BoD need to think outside the box! team up with a smallish brewer Bath Ales / Great Western Brewery / Butcombe. I do not expect that these companies could afford to sponsor the old Blackthorn End, but that is where we should think outside the box! Sell them the UWE idea, make the club house / bars at the UWE a brewery tap! get discount on the produce, works for both sides, maybe it will get us on Camra pages. Same could be done with independent Cider companies!
