They played the tippy tappy stuff in acres of space because we allowed it. Anything in/around the box we shut out all day long. Mildenhall was probably forced into ONE real save all game, the tip over the bar from distance that looked destined for the top bin. Other than that, very much untroubled.
We were disciplined, defended brilliantly & took our chances on the break. Happy days.
I agree with this....Oxford played nice football but didn't kill Rovers off..Macdonald and Baldock looked good first half.
The great bits for me were Leadbitters run and cross,Taylors goal,Gaffneys run and pass,Mildenhalls save.
I wasn't going to go but I am glad I did,a good game and a great result.
A very competent performance by us. I'm not sure what Oxford are complaining about, the 1st half we were both huffing and puffing but not reslly creating very much although they did have more of the ball but we didn't allow them to do anything with it. There was a little more goal action in the 2nd half with us ready to counter attack when the moment presented itself. A really professional performance by our team, coached by a very competent manager. I think this result makes a big statement to our competitors. Fantastic support from the Gas legions, how much better it is to make an atmosphere when we are all grouped together in one place. The poor old announcer was trying to get the home support to cheer when he announced the part of the stand they were in before the game started but had to give up when we belted out three very loud continuous chorus's of Irene. Our support did exactly what Oxford support were afraid we would do, out sing them and inspire our team and can I also say again how brilliant it was to see so many young men and women in attendance.
