That was the problem the Talbot was for Home fans only but we had over 800 travelling but absolutely no information from Mansfield to help away fans It seems the police knew there were a lot of trouble makers but had nothing in place until problems developed in the town centre If the Sir John Cockle pub was to be used by away fans why wasn't it broadcast and signs put up Exactly, from a police point of view the Sir John Cockle was perfect for away fans, enclosed car park for coaches and mini buses, easy to isolate and opposite a chip shop. From my point of view it was like a sauna in there and the cider tasted the same as the lager ! so I wouldn't hurry back.

We had a similar problem we couldn't get out to the left of the ground where we had parked and were directed via the train station where a lot of their thugs were Masses of police but when I spoke to a few of them they didn't know the area as they had been drafted in from Nottingham There was no police to be seen when we arrived early in Mansfield and no 'away pubs' the police only arrived after skirmishes outside the Railway Inn Hmm maybe next time everyone should arrange a pub to meet up in ?,that Mansfield bloke who came on here on Friday mentioned the Talbot,we went there and it was clearly marked home fans only !.
Sorry about that guys. As far as I was aware it welcomed away fans but it seems that this season it has changed. No idea why. The brown cow was recently voted the best pub in mansfield. The sir john cockle is a good 20 min walk to the ground so that's the reason I didn't mention that particular pub. I am surprised you got bother in the railway as it is a decent old style pub with decent old style folk. Sorry about the 30 odd thugs that were knocking about but we all have them eh? As for the match I thought truly that the ref was weak and could have spoiled a great game but didn't. Fair play to both teams for putting on a display and I truly think both teams will be at the right end come the business end of the season. And as for our forum Stagsnet. The less said of that the better. Serial moaning is the norm.

Who is to know (apart from itk) when and where certain folk wanna meet for a dance? Either way, I would be interested in your take of where we were before relegation and where we are now? Is there a marked improvement from opposition pov? For the record, I don't see Mansfield as any more rivals than anyone else in our division. I see us as both vying for play off aspirations. But, take heed.. You may need a few more than 30 next year on your return visit! Just sayin..

Some forum's are good and some forum's are bad......thought your blogger gave a very fair report on the match though.....I obviously enjoyed the result but thought your stewards marshalled us well without spoiling the occasion or being over aggressive to enthusiastic support and as I said to my mate although you only have three stands you have three better ones than we have . How long has that one stand and terracing been closed for, are there any plans to rebuild it ? Good luck for the rest of the season, we're more than grateful for one of your own being our Manager

I must exist in a bubble cos I travelled by train, went to the Railway Inn, was in there until quarter to three, then after the game left and went via the station and had a couple in the (pretty awful) Midland before my train, and I didn't see a single second of trouble or even a suggestion that there was anyone looking for it.

You took the 3 points so that's an improvement. No I wasn't there as regards the dancing (you sound like you are from Sheffield) but I do frequent the railway now and again but not regularly. The problem is, anyone who comes up to mansfield after a dance usually gets it. I tried to steer folks away from possible trouble but sometimes it just happens. Hope nobody got hurt.

Good luck for the rest of the season, we're more than grateful for one of your own being our Manager There is no plans to develop the bishop street stand that I know of. The problem is the houses behind it in being no room to expand. The old chairman tried to burn it down once upon a time but failed , just like he failed at running a football club. The stand is a blot on the stadium but until we have the demand for seats it will not be developed.

Thanks for that evaluation. You sound like a decent person, thanks for advice, and if you're out and about in the rematch we can steer you away from our trouble patches too. Good luck for rest of season and see you next year for hopefully a top of the table clash.. One thing I'm sure we got in common....walking in a disley wonderland?! Ciao..

Evening gents,
I am the 'blogger' who wrote the match report someone kindly posted earlier, thanks for viewing and the feedback.
The game was scrappy from the off but I thought the ref got all the dismissals spot on. McGuire was also lucky to escape after leading with the arm on Lines. Someone mentioned that Pearce slapped your player for the red card, but whilst he was on floor he also flicked his boot towards the head.
Very impressed with Sinclair for you guys, never stopped running and neat in possession. Best of luck for the rest of the season.

I always enjoy reports from real fans as opposed to mainstream media so much more passion. Our man on the spot is SteveK who provides great reviews and insight. See here: Pulsating DramaGood luck to you guys too.

Trying to be as neutral as possible (impossible for me) I thought your players were more physical and often on the edge of legal, which the ref missed. Our outfield players were, and generally are far less aggressive. I was embarrassed by Easters dive, it must have been easier to score, and it was completely shameful. Not one fan around us supported him but we were very confused by the red, until news filtered through as to the cause. Sinclair, now 27, this is his first year in league football. We did not know of him until he was bought in last season and there can be two reasons a) he has made massive improvements in the last 24 months or b) scouting across the league in the last 6 years has been awful. He would be the first name on the fans team sheet every week.

We ended up drinking in Frankie and Benny's and had 5 coppers outside for the duration. Amazing scenes.

Quite a good match report however he missed that the ball had definitely gone out of play for the corner, so Jenson was quite right to be booked for protesting it hadn't and Lockyer was slapped across the face by Pearce not with his boot. He also missed Lockyer being pushed/thrown to the ground after he had got to his feet following the slap and then Sinclair being given the same treatment.

Also, doesn't the ball have to be back in play before an injured player is allowed back on or is that at the discretion of the referee?

Nic Khunt should have been sent off on at least three occasions before he got his second yellow. What on Earth possessed him to push Easter off the pitch?

Presumably it must be because he allowed their defender to come on before the corner had been taken, although I must admit I haven't seen that happen before other than in the case of injured goal keepers.

He was right to think that Easter had cheated (let's face it, despite our natural bias we all think the same) but that is no excuse for Hunt to attempt to referee the game himself and punish a cheating player.
