A question to those in the know.…. I have read your reasons why you decided to inform us of a consortium bid and I thank you for doing so otherwise we would never have found out. But what response were you hoping for from the rest of us? I don't mean a response if we believe it or not (for the record I do), but what did you expect from us, plan a protest? All demand Higgs out? You obviously want a reaction from us to do something about Higgs. What exactly do you hope from us to make the impact the consortium need? From what I have seen so far, you have received positive and negative comments but nothing that I can see that will effect Higgs in the slightest. If something is suggested that could help then maybe let us know? Thanks. Thank you utg - personally i am hoping putting it in the public domain will pressure either our club to deny/confirm or the consortium to make a statement and it is my opinion this will happen in the next few days - UTG

Not sure too much can be done until the Board announce something or a consortium reveals itself! Surprised the local media aren't digging further though! I think Mr Higgs has every right to pursue the UWE until the Sainsburys decision is made! After that, bring on the Russians, the Thais and Harry Redknapp! I would expect the local media to pick up on this anytime now - UTG

Well so far McNarama is denying there's a story and 20man seems to be just ignoring the recent developments. It's surprising they reacted to the Vital story but not this one so far?
Protest wise surely a packed Mem on Saturday gives us the perfect chance to vent our views, if the club doesn't make an announcement of some kind beforehand?

I've highlighted the bits that lack any real substance - UTG

Some comments aimed at you and others in the know has been disrespectful and kind of made a joke of it all. Higgs to me would be delighted how these threads on this topic on different forums has turned out. I cannot see at all where Higgs would be pressured at all. I could be wrong but reading through the countless pages on this topic, you and others in the know would have wanted more of a negative response aimed at Higgs which would have put real pressure on him, if that makes sense. I just hope a lack of pressure hasn't cost us here and hope the consortium comes forward asap.

Thank you for sharing this information and I for one wasn't attacking you on saturday or Henbury so sorry if it came across like that. I like many others are frustrated that nothing seems to happen at this football club. In relation to breaking this story is it another meaningless offer ? Or is it a real bid offering serious contributions ?.
Let me give a silly example. I want to sell my house for £270;000. A couple walk into my estate agents and offer £66;000. They might ring me to convey the bid but it's a nothing call wasting important time. It feels like this will just sweep over and NH will still control..

I have a sound source who says it's a possibility the main backer of the consortium could be he who must live in Guernsey. Could be potentially looking to create a business conference planning and hosting enterprise - venues could include the new AG, the UWE and potentially one new site.
Investing in Rovers might basically be a sideline to getting into that and could allow an interest in Rovers so they can be set up as the City feeder club.
I know quite a bit more than this but can't say for legal reasons. I'm telling you all of this in the best interests of the club.

Didn't the UWE plans come together after the original Mem plans bit the dust and the UWE then saw an oppertunity for Rovers to move to the UWE, I can't recall anybody ever mentioning there was a UWE stadium planned prior to Rovers annoucing there's at the UWE? As far as S Glos plans I wonder which came first the master plan or the UWE stadium plans? Anyway Gasincider has now suggested on the OF he choose to leak the info himself so we've no idea if the consortium intend going public or notwith thier plans. Rovers were in contact with UWE from the time of the Mem redevelopment project, as their students were the most likely users. After the project collapsed it was UWE that suggested that Rovers might use their land. South Glos have a 20,000 capacity stadium as part of their strategic plan, but with no specific site or provider in mind. I would bet a pound to a penny, that the capacity of 21,700 was decided on as it slightly exceeded the capacity of Ashton Gate (before the redevelopment was announced). UWE could not make an educational case for self funding a 20,000 seater stadium, and a decision like that would almost certainly cost the vice principal his job.

Thank you - i don't know precise details of deal and probably never will but it is my understanding they have enough funds to build UWE as per original plans and invest substantially in the team - i do not know anything regarding the deal for purchasing the club but it is my understanding it is a 'good' offer i apologise for being vague On your other point - thank you and i took no offence - i knew when i engaged in all this i was going to have to face criticism I have to expect scepticism and doubt also its only natural - UTG

I expect you know council's need to make saving of around 30% in the next 5 years. They can't even afford youth community mental health and persons with disability. Let alone library services elderly and the list go's on..

The league structure doesn't allow for owning two clubs, or feeder clubs and Lansdown doesn't need Rovers for anything at all anyway.

Who said anything about owning two clubs or having anything official in place? You can back a consortium and not become the owner of the target club. Clubs can have other clubs they prefer to loan and sell players to - an understanding.

Usually Nicholas jumps on "rumours" like this as soon as they seem to be taken seriously by anyone. As for the media boys they will want to be in on the action with any new owners so are probably being deliberately vague in the hope they will be the first to break it... Time will tell
