I wouldn't worry about fitness with Sinclair, he does Ironmans and stuff.

Fan-f**king-tastic I know plenty of supremely fit personal trainers but I wouldn't let them anywhere near a pitch. And if you're injured you aren't fit. Strange how people react on here to offering contracts to injured players given our past record of signing injury prone duds (which Stuart may or may not be, hopefully not). But he's the all action type of player our fans want to see & I suspect the sort of player that opposition fans go away saying 'well he did a lot of running & tackling but didn't really play much football.

Good to see you're in your usual condescending mood today. He had one injury that kept him out for a couple of months. Before that he was playing ever game, and played most of Salisbury's games the season before he joined us. So he doesn't have a history of bad injuries or fitness problems. If you only want to sign players that have never been injured you may struggle to find that many. If you want a discussion about whether to offer him a contract based on football rather than fitness, he was an integral part of the first two thirds of the season and dragged us back into a good few games (Gateshead home being an example) when we looked like we might lose.

I for one am glad he's been offered a contract. He was player of the season for ne (just my opinion) as he summed up exactly what I think Bristol Rovers should be about: Energy, enthusiasm, endeavour and giving 100% for the shirt. Quite honestly, a breath of fresh air.
His style of play may lead to more injuries, that's my only concern.
One thing will say which I think is important.....his attitude during his injury was extemporary. At least he wasn't tweeting he was at @rsenal on matchdays..

Well if you want to be 'condescending' I would've thought that you would've remembered he had 2 injuries to the same knee, or at least someone judged him 'fit' after his first injury (perhaps they were using your scientific judgement of 'fit'?). Given 2 injures to the same knee I would hesitate before offering him a 2 year contract, though I would certainly have offered him something because if can get over the knee injuries he will be an excellent player to have on the bench or to step in and cover injuries to others, personally I don't see him as being in the first XI each week.

Wasn't the first injury a hairline fracture of the foot?

Mark Johns was 27. He played a couple of games and scored a goal during the first season at Twerton. He joined from Bristol Manor Farm and returned shortly afterwards. I remember Mark. I went to school with his elder Brother Nicky. Nick was, in my opinion, the best goalkeeper to come out of Bristol.

Ah, but he used to stand between the posts to keep the pig's bladder out.! Some people confuse him with Fatty Foulke who WAS a gawlay.
Homer nodded there ( but Fatty tipped it round the post).

Fatty Wedlock was far better. I like that, being able to appreciate one of near neighbours players. It was the norm at one time you know. I always had a sneaking regard for ''Big'' John Atyeo, but not when he played against us.

I saw Les Bradd make his debut at Ninian Park on Jan 1st 1983. He scored whilst on-loan and never played again in a 3-1 defeat.
1983 was the year that Kajagoogoo issued "Too Shy". I thought that I would remind you.
All in all a football master-stroke from Gouldy and a classic intro from Kajagogoo.
BTW I'm sure the bass-player (or an amazing lookalike) led the pitch invasion at Elm Park (Reading)in same year.
