Anyone else remember Blackburn away in 1990 or 1991 I think it was. Night game and we scored twice in the last 10 mins to get a 2-2 draw. When we was 2 down Frank Stapelton was through on goal and he rounded Brian Parkin to slot the ball into the empty net and put them 3 up. The ball ended up getting stuck in mud on the goaline and Brian scrambled back and got to the ball before a Blackburn player. That made the comeback even more sweeter.

The 5 nil thrashing of Oxford at a locked out Manor Ground. I travelled from Australia for that one, straight from Heathrow.Ever tried getting into a football stadium with a suitcase? Also a memorable one for me was loosing 6-1 to City in the Summer of 78, I was a kid on my own watching from the east end with a rovers shirt under my coat- almost got heat stroke. I was raging on the inside at all those posturing fools aiming abuse towards the open end. That was the day that confirmed it was not going to be a short term thing......Rovers till I die. Was that the game when Chris Garland got on his knees and headed the ball into the goal? Yes it was,it was an Anglo Scottish cup game and it was my birthday ! Crystal Palace,I think it was a boxing day and the train broke down so we missed most of the first half. Millwall, last game at the old Den what a result, thought it was going to kick off when they got on the pitch and pulled the posts down,3 minutes to go as well, should have been replayed.

I agree, Brighton 2 Rovers 8, It was my first away match, and Brian Cloughs first home game as their manager. It was also the day that rovers reserves beat city reserves 6-0. Those were the days , great teams and hope

Hartlepool and Lincoln away in the promotion season were both obviously great days out but I reckon Lincoln was the better of the two. The first half of the Hartlepool game was pretty turgid and it only really came to life in the second half (although boy did it come to life when Rickie scored at the end!).
The atmosphere at the Lincoln game was pumping for almost the whole match. Great gas following packed into the end of the grandstand, great noise levels throughout and some corking goals. Ooh I can feel the goosebumps again!

Can't recall who scored for us...Holloway got 1 maybe? I do know that we finished midway that season and West Brom, Leicester and Hull were all relegated...how times have changed. I used to travel to all the away games back then too...you'll remember the 45 min half time at Preston then?

I used to love the look of Deepdale back then, changed beyond recognition now.

I used to love the look of Deepdale back then, changed beyond recognition now. A group of Preston fans were protesting against their board of directors and at half time they occupied an unused terrace that had no safety certificate, knowing this would prevent the start of the 2nd half. We were a goal up at the time and I think a lot of us thought it was quite funny to start with but as it went on it became clear the game could be abandoned. The game did re-start and the score remained 1-0.

Just using a bit of poetic licence, instead of the best away game, how about the ''best'' in terms of sheer terror? I went on the Supporters Club coaches to Millwall in the mid-'70s. Everything went well until we reached the New Kent Road, when lots of people who were drinking on the side of the road would smash their beer glass and show us the jagged edges as we passed by. I was definitely a little on edge. When we were dropped off we made our way down Cold Blow Lane towards the stadium, and people were coming out of houses to confront the Rovers supporters. I particularly remember an elderly man kicking a Rovers supporter wearing his slippers. We eventually made it to the ground and took our seat in the stands, opposite us was a ship sailing up what must have been a canal. It really was surreal. The Millwall fans made a hell of a fuss throughout the game (Knees Up Mother Brown, and Maybe It's Because I'm A Londoner and all the other London songs) until the Rovers scored. 0-1 was not the ''right'' score, and foolishly we all celebrated the goal. Bad error on our part, and the Millwall fans let us all know all about it. The stand that we were sitting in was a wooden stand similar to the South Stand at Eastville, and very soon small fires started appearing and fans were trying to climb from the terraces into the stand. The police were doing their best, but I really was getting concerned. Thank goodness Millwall eventually scored, and in time the game ended. The game passed by in a haze, and I was relieved when it was all over. Outside of the ground some Millwall supporters were physically trying to ''tip'' a police horse over, and very nearly succeeded as well, by using brute force and marbles. The whole game was an absolute nightmare from start to finish, and it's the only game that I have ever attended that I have been relieved to get out alive. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to compare some scenes to a war zone. I've been to all the ''big'' grounds, but I've never witnessed scenes like I did that day. I heard later that some Millwall fans had followed some Rovers supporters as far as Paddington, with obvious results.

around the time of the coalminers strike in the 70's, when there was limited electricity and we were playing at Aldershot , on a Sunday, smash and grab era, just for the sheer amount of rovers fans there that day, fans on the roof and up the flood light pylons, everywhere it was just blue and white,,,,, think Rovers went 3-0 up aldershot came back with two late goals to make it more tense than it should have been, one of those "i was there days"

I only make exceptions if they have big tits.

These have all been far too obvious;
Wycombe away in the JPT in October 2006, got to Wycombe about one/two in the afternoon and drank practically every drop of booze in Wycombe. Rovers won 2-0 with Jemal Easter getting Rovers goal and Igoe scoring practically with the last kick of the game. Spent the whole first half giving dogs abuse to the Wycombe goalkeeper as apparently our Grandmothers thought he was an "utter sod" he repeatedly flicked the vees at us much to our delight. All topped off with kissing Sammy Igoe, I think we only took around 60 supporters, six months later 40,000 would travel to Cardiff but it all started there.
Stockport away in the league September 2009, I was staying in Manchester as my girlfriend at the time was living there. Met a couple of gasheads in Manchester at about 11 and started drinking. We were in a pub and got talking to a couple of Norweigens who were off to the United game the next day. Next thing we know we're drinking with them and on the train to Stockport. One of them were sick outside Stockport station, we of course continued drinking and went to the ground. Rovers took an early two goal lead and I can remember nothing of the game apart from Gasheads singing "There's only one Fraiser Foreskin" and the Norweigens mooing and making milking jestures at the Stockport supporters.

5-0 at Oxford. This was my younger son's first game. His name is Jamie. He did drop off at one point, but woke up to the sound of us all singing "Jamie, Jamie." He thought it was for him.
I didn't bring him down to earth by telling him that this was as good as it was ever going to get.......

Not the best in terms of importance of result etc, but a few that stick in my mind.
Two away trips to Scunny about 10 years ago were cracking. The 1-2 Lee Hodges game and the 2-2 draw after being 2 down with ten mins to go were great fun.
Took Mrs P on a cracking weekend to Torquay the year we were 2-0 down at half time before winning very, very late 3-2. Weather was great, loads of Gas stayed down there (August), just brilliant.

Barnsley away in the FA Cup (fifth round?) even though we got hammered 4-1. We had 3 or 4 thousand fans there and we danced and sang all the way through even though we were taken apart from the first whistle. We were 4-0 down and Jason Roberts scored right at the end and everyone went absolutely mental like we had won the Champions League.
Their fans were p*ssed right off because because they were trying to rub it in but we were just having a party. Sums up what supporting the club is about for me, I have never been prouder.
Shame I have had most of that passion and pride knocked out of me in the years that followed.

Would loved to have gone to Barnsley, but thats the game ticket allocation was massively ballsed up and ST holders could buy as many as they wanted. Tickets sold out before I could get to Bristol on the day of sale (as a ST holder).......
