I was at that Wisbech game, kicked off big timein the pub before hand, then Barry Hayles had bananas thrown at him during the game. Like you say like something from the 70's.

Goldstone Ground, December 1st 1973 Brighton 2 BRFC 8 Alan Warboys getting stitched up to return to the field. I was not there but have a scrap book with that in it. Anfield for me, without a doubt and the Kop giving us Rovers fans a standing ovation. Nothing had come close to that for me. I never went to Derby but many have said that was another amazing day

Has to be Reading 6-0. Some other highlights
Oxford 5-0.
Oxford 1-0 (Andy Rammell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Brentford 6-3, 3-0 and 3-2 victories - always love a trip to Griffin Park
Stoke 4-1 (Roberts and Cureton)
Southampton 2-1 (Andy Williams last minutes stunner)
I remember two successive 4-1 away wins at Luton and Oldham and in the season that never was, Vitas was playing magnificently and got injured at Oldham I think.
City 0-2 Beadle
Those would be my choices, with the 5-0 at Oxford as number 1 as one of the best all round performances I have witnessed by a Rovers team. That is one of my favorites too.

Before the game we were in the Harvester having a good ol sing song, about 2.30 had a phone call saying they were going to shut the turnstiles already. Rushed to the ground and got in just as they shut the turnstiles. I remember at kickoff being right at the back of the terrace looking out and seeing loads of Rovers fighting with the police because they couldn't get in. Wasn't this game the week after Reading away 6-0? Or have I got my dates completely wrong?

I believe the Oxford game was in the failed promotion season and the Reading one was the previous season to that? Could be wrong. Memory is shocking!

Was told by the landlord of the pub we was in before the game at Wisbech that the locals had been saying all week they wanted to kill a Bristolian...very strange place

They were ambushing us as we left out of the narrow exit into the street. A copper grabbed me midway through a scuffle with one of the local apes, dragged me away and let me go.

BRFC versus Newcastle United at St James Park on 1 April 1991. Rovers won 2-0 in front of a crowd of 17,509, many of who were leaving well before the end of the game to the sound of the Rovers supporters singing the Monty Python song ''Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life.'' I believe that this was Ossie Ardiles first game as Newcastle manager after leaving Swindon Town.
I particularly remember (for some reason or other) that the team coach passed us on the motorway on the way home. It was pitch black, but their coach slowed down and the players all waved to the supporters coach, including Gerry Francis. Nice touch that.

Hartlepool 2007, with a three-night bender in Blackpool that weekend.
Walsall '99 when Curaton equalised with his face in the last minutes. Singing 'Colin Cramb is a horses 4r5e'.
Man City '99 and Derby '07 just for the size of the grounds and Rovers taking the biggest ever away to Pride Park. Lot of respect for Man City as their fans still turned up when they were **** (by their standards).

Loads on here that have already been mentioned, so I will mention one that hasn't been. 88/89 play off season on a Tuesday night at Huddersfield old Leeds Road ground, we went 2 down but won 3-2. We had been s**te for years, but that night really made me think Gerry Francis had built a special team.

The game at Notts County that got us to Wembley for the very first time was also special as was the 2-1 win at Tranmere on a Monday night (a title rival) a couple of weeks before we took the title.
SOmeone said 2-1 at Southampton ... well it was actually 3-2 after AW fired in that spectacular winner.

I was at that one, me and a mate ended up drinking in a Newcastle nightclub with Denis Smith, his old assistant (Crosby?) and Paul Bracewell,. We had to break in to our B&B at about 3 in the morning as it was locked!

The 5 nil thrashing of Oxford at a locked out Manor Ground. I travelled from Australia for that one, straight from Heathrow.Ever tried getting into a football stadium with a suitcase? Also a memorable one for me was loosing 6-1 to City in the Summer of 78, I was a kid on my own watching from the east end with a rovers shirt under my coat- almost got heat stroke. I was raging on the inside at all those posturing fools aiming abuse towards the open end. That was the day that confirmed it was not going to be a short term thing......Rovers till I die.

Was that the game when Chris Garland got on his knees and headed the ball into the goal?
