Fulham 0 Rovers 4 - first half Martyn was immense. Second half the team purred into life like a vintage Aston Martin helped by a bizarre sending off that helped rile the Fulham fans even more!

Has to be Reading 6-0. Some other highlights
Oxford 5-0.
Oxford 1-0 (Andy Rammell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Brentford 6-3, 3-0 and 3-2 victories - always love a trip to Griffin Park
Stoke 4-1 (Roberts and Cureton)
Southampton 2-1 (Andy Williams last minutes stunner)
I remember two successive 4-1 away wins at Luton and Oldham and in the season that never was, Vitas was playing magnificently and got injured at Oldham I think.
City 0-2 Beadle

Hartlepool away was brilliant too, though I was watching it at the Mem on the big screen and not actually there, but I presume that counts.

Those would be my choices, with the 5-0 at Oxford as number 1 as one of the best all round performances I have witnessed by a Rovers team.

Cough... um, not quite. I was at the Luton 4-1. probably the best 'quality' match I've seen away. 1 down, but we murdered them. utter pace and skill from Cureton & Roberts, a brace each. It was only Vitaljs's 3rd ever game for us.

Liverpool away in the league cup would be mine. I know that we lost but the atmosphere was just fantastic and the radio commentators actually mentioned the fabulous noise coming from the Rovers fans. Then Carl Saunders did the absolute unexpected and put us ahead . McMannaman ran us ragged in the second half but that didnt diminish the occasion at all.

I think sometimes people forget just how good he was.

by the by.... this is EXACTLY the sort of stuff I need for my new book. you don;t have to write an essay. it can be as short or as long as you want. the traveling, the emotions, and the reasons we go to away games are also just as interesting. by the fans, for the fans. Club not involved. details on this thread - gasheads.org/thread/196/submissions-needed-book-away-gamesor at www.awaythegas.org.uk

Has to be the 2-1 win at Old Trafford in the old League Cup. John Rudge scored with a Header over Stepney and George Best had a penalty saved by the brilliant Dick Sheppard. Bannister scored the winner in the last minute with a header from a corner and the atmosphere was fantastic. The journey back to the Train Station was dodgy to say the least and you felt like you were the only person walking in that direction. I tend to remember a lot of train windows being smashed as we left Manchester.

All the away games from 1999 until 2007.
The kiddies I shared cars and minivans to travel with all over (we didn't miss many games) were, 'special' - and still are.
One game, that at the time was crucial to Rovers for survival in the third division (we had never been in the 4th. Div ... irony for you) was at Halifax, 62/63?? Anyway we had to win and did; 3-2. So no 4th div. thank goodness.
And many others, most that have already been mentioned.
Still scorchio here, So

a visit to the Vetch field for an fa cup game, having walked through the streets of Swansea just got off the train, where it seemed like Beirut, with bottles bricks and bottles of urine raining down from the high rise buildings,[several split heads also] and then to see Steve White get the winner, and the gas following doing the conga along the terraces...........happy days..... and the trip to Hull 70's [boothferry park?] Straight off the train platform and into the ground, where Rovers needed a last day win to avoid relegation, and Paul Randall got the important winner, .....train was not too good after mind, with the dim wits who enjoy trashing stuff for the sake of it

I always loved going to Gay Meadow and sneaking weetabix in past the cops. Last time I was there was an Astafjevs masterclass in a 5-2 win, after a bad spell of games, when the gasheads sang, "Rovers are back! Rovers are back!"

Hull away as already mentioned,Paul Randalls goal keeping Rovers up,also Carlisle away the season before losing 2-0 with twelve minutes left and then winning the game 3-2,more or less kept Rovers up but relegated Carlisle I think.
