Really hope we get another good turnout tomorrow night and look forward to meeting up with other concerned Rovers fan's Please try to attend if you possibly can. UTG TOMORROW NIGHT, THE WELLINGTON, HORFIELD, 7.30PMJon, Mark and I had a really productive planning meeting this evening. We discussed merging with BRISA, subject to the approval of those present tomorrow. If approved we would be speaking as one, with the weight of numbers behind us! It's very unlikely that I can make it tomorrow - who gives a toss, you say! - but if you do merge with BRISA, I hope you three guys stay involved. Already, Mr Higgs has turned the 'closed' Q&A into a semi-open one and whilst it's limited progress, it's progress all the same. When I wrote to Mr Higgs back in January, I did suggest he hold a series of meetings with supporters with a view to uniting supporters, something that would be very easy to do. I don't know if he has even read my email, but now he is going part of the way down the road in engaging with supporters it's better than nothing. Hopefully, those BRISA members present will be able to update you all on what they are up to, who their acting officers and spokespeople are and maybe give some early indications on their aims and objectives. Finally, would it be possible to ask the meeting whether they agree that it's time for Mr Higgs to lift Kevin Spencer's lifetime ban? I wouldn't want to be part of any group that didn't.

Kevin has confirmed, amongst others, that Bristol Rovers have far more important issues than his ban.
Having said that the ban is symptomatic of the problems and attitude within the Club.

I shall be there again and looking forward to meeting a few more forumers and non forumers. What I found interesting in speaking to a number of fans at the last meeting were the numbers who whilst not signing up as a member to the Official Forum read and followed it. I would certainly support the move to merge BRAG and BRISA so we can speak with one voice and start applying some more pressure on the Board to become more open and honest with us about the various issues that are effecting the club and the progress we all want to see

What I found interesting in speaking to a number of fans at the last meeting were the numbers who whilst not signing up as a member to the Official Forum read and followed it. It would be excellent if those who "read" would sign up. It gives the custodians of the forum an opportunity to make contact with them on specific issues and events likely to be of interest. The contact will be few and far between but could be missed if "reading" only.
Take a look at the numbers currently 3 Staff, 18 Members, 86 Guests. Over the past 24 hours 6 Staff, 289 Members, 3,069 Guests.

It says something that thousands of people are at the very least browsing this forum.
I wonder if the same can be said for the now forum-free official BRFC website?

On the subject of BRISA or for people with concerns
The thought of a merger is for debate.
As with anything, it will be discussed and democratically decided if it is in the best interests of progress.
Even more reason to turn up tonight and engage in the debate.
7.30 PM The Wellington, Horfield - Have YOUR say. Ask YOUR questions. Air YOUR concerns.

I have been to both Welly meetings and the EGM, and I have to say I became more dispirited as the second Welly meeting went on by the enormity of the task.
There was a lot of time spent on what questions to ask at the Q&A, but there will be, I am sure, some cherry picking and no real guarantee that all the questions we discussed will get asked.
As to why no executives have lost their jobs, apart from the financial geyser the directors are not paid employees, if they go they either take their money with them or worse still ask for their money back.
Apart from the suggestion of turning our backs at the key minute, there was no discussion of what further action could be taken to get noticed. There has been some media coverage.
Many anecdotes were recounted, as the meeting became a bit of a talking shop at times, but each indicated just how impossible it is to communicate with the BoD or just how crass the board's or certain director's behaviour can be.
It was floated that the 50 Welly warriors should merge with BRISA (this did not seem to have the full support of all the three on the top table.) I'm still not sure who the people are behind BRISA, I want to see the cut of their jib. The Welly 3 have been very visible.
We had a talk from someone standing to be an SC Director, hoping to improve information flow. There was an example given by another person quickly demonstrating that the SC Directors are bypassed by the board. The moment any SC director falls foul of the confidentiality clause will be the end of that director (although not everything is confidential!)
Time is moving on, soon the holidays will be here and the season will start. There has to be a meeting soon after the Q&A as suggested.
As I see it, the aim is not to remove the board, but to attain more (or even some) communication with it and discuss long term strategy/change. The board has been through this before, and, although they appeared a little rattled at the EGM, they'll just sit it out as it has the support of the SC.
These are my own personal views and hopefully not negative, I really applaud the Welly 3 and the establishment of an Independent Supporters Club; it is such an enormous task to get meaningful interaction with this board, I know someone has to try, but I would like to see more ideas to get the board to open up beyond asking selected questions provided in advance.
