We all know that is bullsh*t but the majority of fans who are not on the forums don't. The key issue is to convince the majority that change is possible (they already know it is necessary) To do that the numbers have got to be right and I don't think 150 is enough There has to be a media blitz to drive that number up to between 500 and 1000 and once that is achieved there could be an avalanche effect which is something the board have never faced before. With an avalanche coming towards them the board will have to do something and I think that's what the majority want, they may not know exactly what they do want but they are fed up with the board doing nothing other than retreating into their shell and pretending nothing is wrong. Rod Chapman posted a list of names yesterday of people who had tried to do something positive for Rovers but had been cast aside and were now alienated from the club. I don't know Rod or Mark or Jon or Strung Out and I have never met the people on that list because they are figures from history whereas I am from archaeology . But reading the thoughts and opinions of all these people I think we share a common goal which is the betterment of BRFC. If we cannot achieve mass support for change now then looking forward to games against clubs like FGR and Braintree is likely to become the norm and fans who want better than that will be painted as "unrepresentative keyboard warriors". In ten or twenty years time we may be looking back nostalgically to our time in the league just like we look back now to Geoff Bradford and the glorious fifties. You are of course spot on. Kingswood, you going next week mate ?

With the news of the Q & A now being known, could I appeal to everyone to still come on Tuesday July 1st to the Wellie. We would like to implement strategies so that we can ensure all the questions we want answering will (hopefully) be answered on the night. Preparing for the Q & A will now form a big part of the agenda for the evening.
Looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible.

Dear Friends I regret I shall be unable to attend this meeting due to a family funeral on the same day and as I have recently come out of hospital, I am unable to drive myself. Nevertheless I do hope to com along to a meeting at a later date providing the aims are positive and to the benefit of Bristol Rovers FC. I look forward to learning the outcome. I have been striving for open meetings for Supporters - hence the recent Supporters Club EGM and Nick's recent pre-match Q and A's. As you will have seen the club have announced a Fans Forum which is open to all members (ticket in advance due to numbers) on 21st July. I do hope you will be able to attend this meeting. To me, the most important thing is open and frank dialogue (that is within the remit allowed) although some claim this is simple an excuse to not communicate which I agree should be and will be much better I hope from here on.
I note in the final line of the above thread a meeting for all passionate and committed Gasheads. May I point out we all are that is why we will continue to support our club through thick and thin and that is why so many people volunteer their services without thought of financial reward. The only reward we seek is a successful and thriving football club in which we can all share in its success. I hope with the changes due to be announced shortly, those days are on their way. I am delighted with the players Darrell has signed and those he has retained. I know more a re on the way. Perhaps with work due to start on the new stadium soon the jigsaw is at last starting to come together, but I appreciated there is a very long journey ahead in which we need to all stick together if we are to succeed. Best wishes UTG Brian SS

The message from BSS should say - we apologise most sincerely that we have ignored your calls for a Q & A for so long and to make it up to you we would like to invite as many of you as would like to come. Furthermore, there will be no restrictions on who asks a question as long as there is no interrupting when we answer the questions. We also respectfully understand that you may want to ask a follow up question if you feel that your question has not be answered satisfactorily. We also respect the idea that you can ask any question without giving prior notice on the night if it is football related. We hopw then that we might have made some steps to regaining your trust and belief that OUR Rovers will be on the road to recovery.
Yours Faithfully BSS (on behalf of Bristol Rovers fOotball Club).

Share scheme chairman Brian Seymour-Smith commented on the anniversary “No-one then [in 2002] could have imagined the progress that would be made thanks to the efforts of everyone involved”. Well Brian certainly wouldn’t have imagined it, as he only became a share scheme member eight years after the scheme was launched, when it was pointed out during his ultimately successful bid for election to board of directors as the supporters’ club representative that he didn’t appear on the list of members. But surely no-one back in 2003 would have imagined that the progress made would amount to three places higher in the League and steadily increasing debts year on year? [edit: and now RELEGATION TO NON-LEAGUE for the first time in 94 years!]
Nevertheless, advocates of fan ownership would surely applaud the fact that Bristol Rovers supporters have been able to purchase £1,000,000 of shares in the club, thus giving them a substantial say in how the club is run? Well actually the supporters’ club’s shareholding has fallen from around 7% in 2003, to 3.83% in 2013 – this being achieved through a number of share dilutions due to current directors converting debt to share ownership, and shares only being available to the supporters club at 1000% of the price paid by directors.

Swiss, Can I ask, what in particular do you feel he could have said or made clearer ? He is hamstrung by the board so he says " within the remit" BSS, he's a good guy but he has to work with a board who are not receptive to any change put forward by us plebs. The problem is the board, led by a bully , can veto anything he or others like him put forward. His Sister died last week and yet he is still at least trying to reply. I don't mean this as a dig at you mate but can you tell me what you would have wanted him to say please ? Thanks

I don't mean this as a dig at you mate but can you tell me what you would have wanted him to say please ? Thanks Fair point KP I don't mind backing up what I posted. I'm sorry to hear Brian's sister died and I am sure that is something which is understandably very hard to cope with. But a first rule of business is that you don't bring personal circumstances into play when talking about business matters. There was no need to mention the funeral or his stay in hospital because, rightly or wrongly, that may be construed as trying to win sympathy and validate a poor excuse for failing to do something. There is no structure to the message in fact it is incoherent and mainly consists of a string of platitudes we have heard before. I don't know what Brian's illness is but if it is affecting his ability to string two sentences together then he should either pass the responsibility onto Ken or get a friend to help editing his messages before they are put out. It is very discourteous to fans to include lines like "many people volunteer their services without thought of financial reward" because it implies that we "plebs" as you say have to bow down before the "volunteers" and we all know the most esteemed "volunteers" are the board themselves. Everyone knows and respects that people do volunteer work for Rovers but we don't want it rammed down our throats. Likewise "the changes to be announced shortly" is the same old line we have heard before and is highly insulting and unnecessary. If Brian is a professional Public Relations man and if he really is striving for and believes in free and open dialogue then, despite restrictions placed on him by other members of the board, he should be capable of finding a way of getting that message across to us in a convincing way. To me the message above is shoddy and hardly a thought has been given to it's content which is inexcusable in any circumstances.

Have to agree with Swissgas. Piss poor spelling, grammar and content. Raises a few questions ('members'? I thought anyone could be one of the lucky 150? Is BSS claiming credit for the recent BoD appearance at the EGM? Changes to be announces soon? Here we go!).
Like Higgs, I am interested in how they were percieved by their peers in the building & PR worlds, because their performance as 'experts' at Rovers has been hapless.

Just took a look at the latest published figures for Brian's PR company, Seymour Associates, it looks like very lean times in the PR industry.
Anyway, Brian has surfaced again, is there an election coming up?

Also there doesn't seem to be any working relationship between the two Fans Directors. They could be doing two completely seperate jobs. They could be on different planets for that matter. Both seem to have been allowed to make the role exactly what ever they want to personally get out of it.
