Bumping this
Cllr Keith Burchell who represents Cribbs Ward on the council is involved in the decision... and also an officer of the Gloucestershire FA. Shame his interest in grassroots football doesn't extend to helping to sustain a club with dozens of players from 5/6 years old and upwards.
Bristol football has had a great season - let's not allow it to be spoiled by allowing Hallen to get screwed

Saw subs bench and interview with Hallen FC officals did not show them in a good light. They don't seem on the ball if I can use that phrase. They did not come across to me as being very organised. Had no idea how much they would have to pay. With 600 players surely they must get a fair amount of income from training/match fees Plus why don't they hold a Sixes Tournament there. I attend many of these at St Nicholas,Warmley Rangers, Avon Athletic,Stoke Lane etc and they raise thousands of pounds.

These are some of the relevant email addresses. I have had to take a guess at the South Glos councillor email address as it isn't published but an email I sent hasn't bounced back. I also copied the new MP for the area.
However you feel please be respectful with your protest emails.
rjones@almondsburyparishcouncil.co.uk, mstooke@almondsburyparishcouncil.co.uk, lrowe@almondsburyparishcouncil.co.uk, chilliker@almondsburyparishcouncil.co.uk keith.burchell@southglos.gov.uk, Jack.lopresti.MP@parliament.uk

Very sad news,as an ex player and manager at Hallen i am disgusted at APC. I Believe the ground at Moorhouse lane was paid for by by APC as part of the deal that saw the NSC grounds at Stoke Bishop sold for housing. I played for NSC throughout the 80's until the move to Hallen as the NSC teams were immalgimated into the Hallen club becoming Hallen A and Hallen B, Although none of us made it through to the 1st team we continued to play there for many years and became Hallen members. I remember our day out supporting the 1st team at Canvey Island in the final qualifying round of the FA Cup when they were a conference side. The club has been ran by a dedicated team of volunteers since before i joined and after i left, it is nothing short of disgraceful that this club is being forced to close after 66 years. I am presuming here but i seem to remember that there was a gauranteed lease of the facilities to NSC for 99 years but i am sure that the Hallen comittee are aware of this. PETITION SIGNED, please all Gasheads that have played local football sign this petition this club should not be allowede to die

All amateur Clubs are run by willing volunteers who raise funds to pay for rent on premises. Have they applied to Sport England for funding Have they organised a charity football/golf/darts/skittles match or Sixes Tournament yet ? Need to act quickly

Who were NSC. They were the National Smelters Company that used to play on there own ground in Stoke Bishop, opposite Stoke Lodge. When the company sold the site for housing there was some deal done to move down to Hallen, I thought this involved building the current clubhouse at Hallen but Nailsea Gas will undoubtedly no more details.

You are correct National Smelting Company, consisted of 3 football teams playing in the Suburban league plus the renowned NSC boxing club. If my memory serves me correctly the deal was to relocate to Moorhouse Lane on the promise of the clubhouse and playing facilities with Hallen FC. Hallen originally ran their own bar enabling them to raise funds, when the NSC teams were amalgamated into Hallen FC we all became one and NSC ceased to exist, however a team was started a few seasons later under the NSC name by some ex players and managers but they only lasted a season or 2. I am pretty sure that the terms of the deal enabled NSC to play football there for a long time eg 99 years but as the club joined with Hallen i'm not sure if it would count. i am pretty sure that the committe would have got a solicitor to look over the original contract. There was no written documents as far as i am aware that existed to say that NSC have joined Hallen but the then club chairmen would have to have agreed to the change.

Does anyone know what covenants are attached to the Hallen Centre/football ground?
Almondsbury Parish Council will have received legal advice in making their decision. I strongly suggest that a copy of their solicitor's advice is obtained asap. If Almondsbury Parish Council refuse then a formal request should be made for it under Freedom of Information.

What we need to know is what is the REAL reason the ALMONDSBURY parish council are forcing (because that is what they are doing) the HALLEN football club out of the HALLEN ground. Someone (could be the council) are out to make some big money out of this. Come clean Mr Burchell and Mr Hall I am sure you know the answers.

You can also get Keith Burchell on: kburchell@almondsburyparishcouncil.co.uk I suggest starting your email with 'I know you won't reply but ...' County You are right ~ they don't reply or even acknowledge mail sent to them. Their statement actually raises more questions than answers and it is interesting that Rovers can't commit next year either. Mind you with the court case providing uncertainty about the future that is understandable. In fairness to BRFC as well they are not committing to spending they would have to back out of if the court case fails leaving locals out of pocket. Unlike a certain other team in 1982.....

Further to my note above to County I have received the below from the office of Jack Lopresti, MP for the area.
"Thank you for your email to Jack, which has been passed on to me as his constituency caseworker. Jack met representatives from Hallen FC on Friday. They explained the problems that they are having with regard to their future at the Hallen Centre and some detail of the discussions that they have had with Almondsbury Parish Council. Subsequent to this, Jack has also spoken to Cllr Keith Burchell, who has been talking to the football club on behalf of the Parish Council. Jack has undertaken to write to the Chair of Almondsbury Parish Council, Cllr Cliff Hilliker, to encourage the Parish Council to do everything they can to keep the football club at the Hallen Centre and allow them to continue to play football in the village. Jack is committed to doing everything he can to help the club to stay there and so, subsequent to the letter, he will stay in touch with the club and Cllr Burchell to see what else he can do to help."
Great to see a MP moving so promptly to help.
